Robert H. "Bob" Hoch

Robert (Bob) Harris Hoch, age 84, of Storm Lake, Iowa passed away at Methodist Manor on Tuesday, May 18, 2021. He fought a courageous battle against lung cancer and was surrounded by his two sons, Jeff Hoch and Curt Hoch and his home care team from Unity Point, Melissa and Pam. Memorial services will be held on Saturday, July 10 at 1:00 p.m. at the Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake. Visitation will take place one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. The Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake is in charge of the arrangements. Bob was born on June 26, 1936 and was adopted by Edwin and Ruth (Keith) Hoch of Storm Lake in 1939. Bob attended school at West Elementary and then later graduated from Storm Lake High School in 1954. Bob was a star fullback for the Tornados and an excellent 880-yard runner in track. Bob eventually attended Dunwoody College of Technology in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Bob proudly served his country in The United States Air Force. He served in Colorado Springs, Colorado and then later in Iceland. Bob met Connie Lee Hadden in 1964 and married her on July 9, 1965 and was married to Connie for over 50 years. Bob and Connie spent every weekend dancing at the Elks Lodge in Storm Lake where Bob was a proud member of the Elks and eventually became the Exalted Ruler from 1983-1984. Bob was a proud father to two sons, Jeff and Curt, and an even prouder grandpa or boppa (as his grandchildren affectionately called him) to five beautiful granddaughters, Hannah, Abby, Faith, Grace, and Sophia. He dearly loved his family and enjoyed spending time with them. Bob loved working on cars, gardening, decorating his home for Christmas, playing solitaire, building things, baking, and playing with his cats. Bob loved sports and was an avid Iowa Hawkeyes fan. Bob enjoyed auto racing, especially NASCAR and enjoyed going to many races with his son, Curt. After Bob retired from Clough Auto Parts, he went to work at the Methodist Manor in the maintenance department. Bob Hoch was an amazing man and he will be dearly missed by his family: Jeff (Annette) Hoch of Onalaska, Wisconsin and Curt Hoch of Storm Lake, Iowa; grandchildren: Hannah (Donald) Hickok; Abby (Tim) Murry; Grace Hoch; Faith Hoch; Sophia Hoch; and soon to be two great grandchildren; as well as extended family and friends. Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Edwin and Ruth, and wife, Connie.
