Robert "Bob" Sitzmann

Robert (Bob) Sitzmann, 83 of Storm Lake, Iowa, passed away Sunday, May 12, 2013, at Mercy Hospital in Sioux City, IA, surrounded by his family. Robert William Sitzmann, was born in LeMars, Iowa, on February 3, 1930, to John (Jack) and Leila (Saunders) Sitzmann. He graduated from Leeds High School, Sioux City, IA, in 1947 and served in the Navy/Reserves from 1948 to 1952. He was united in marriage to Charlotte J. McGuire on November 28, 1953, in Danbury, IA. At that time, he worked as a ceramic tile setter. He moved with his family to Storm Lake in 1961 to start his employment with Moormanâ€™s Manufacturing & Equipment Co. of Quincy, IL, as a sales representative and was promoted to District Manager, retiring in 1987. After retiring, he worked part-time at Family Health Center for over 9 years. Bob will always be remembered for his generosity and his kind, loving nature. There was a special place in his heart for his beautiful bride of 60 years, his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. He also had a host of friends and was active in his community. He enjoyed morning coffee, golf and cards with his â€œbuddiesâ€. He served as a member of the Knights of Columbus 4th degree Rosati Assembly serving as Grand Knight in 1975 -1976 when the new KC Hall in Storm Lake was built. He was a member and usher at St. Maryâ€™s Catholic Church. He is survived by his wife, Charlotte, and children: Ronda (Mark) Roby, Watertown, SD, Marda Mayhan, Omaha, NE, Gaylene (Paul) Kestel, Storm Lake, IA, Rob (Rebecca) Sitzmann, Eagan, MN, Donna (Jim) Pittman, Storm Lake, IA, Nadine (Doug) Harskamp, St. Peters, MO, Paula (Mark) McCaulley, Urbandale, IA, Ed (Tonya) Sitzmann, W. Des Moines, IA, Jay (Shannon) Sitzmann Wentzville, MO, 25 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren, two sisters, Celesta Barnes, Canyon Lake, CA, Maureen Persico, New Brighton, MN, sister-in-law, Julie Sitzmann, Ft. Collins, CO, many nieces, nephews and extended family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, an infant son, Richard, infant granddaughter, Jill Marie Kestel, brother Glenn, brother-in-laws: Tom Persico and Francis Barnes. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be directed to St. Maryâ€™s Catholic School Foundation, 320 Seneca St. Storm Lake, IA. 50588.
