Norma Joan McDonough

Norma Joan McDonough, age 87, of Lakeside, Iowa died January 12, 2026 at Buena Vista Regional Medical Center in Storm Lake, Iowa. Funeral service will take place Friday, January 16, 2026 at 10:30 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Early, Iowa. Burial will be in the Buena Vista Memorial Park Cemetery in Storm Lake. Visitation will be held Thursday, January 15, 2026 from 5-7:00 p.m. at Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in STORM LAKE. The Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake is in charge of the arrangements. Norma was born June 10, 1938 to Lloyd and Freida (Bletzer) Sauter. She attended school in Truesdale, Iowa, graduating in 1956. On July 8, 1958, Norma was united in marriage to Robert Myott. To this union, six children were born: Michael, Teresa, Scott, Curtis, Patricia, and Patrick Joseph (passed away in infancy). She later was united in marriage to John McDonough on January 8, 2005 in Early, Iowa. Norma worked at Bil-Mar for over 20 years before retiring. She later became a waitress in Early, where she met the love of her life, John. A true social butterfly, Norma loved spending time with her friends, especially her cherished birthday group. She was an accomplished bowler for many years, earning numerous trophies and awards. Norma also enjoyed dancing, particularly square dancing in her earlier years. She took great pleasure in spending time on the farm with John and his horses, Tom and Jerry, and enjoyed visiting the Amish to see their special friends. During the warmer months, Norma could often be found tending her garden, canning vegetables, and sitting on the front porch enjoying the simple pleasure of watching the cars go by. Above all else, Norma treasured time with her family. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren held a very special place in her heart. Norma will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. Left to cherish Norma’s memory include her beloved husband, John McDonough of Lakeside, Iowa; children: Mike (Karen) Myott of Oklahoma; Teresa (Todd) Thompson of Ames, Iowa; Scott Myott of Phoenix, Arizona; Curtis (Sherry) Myott of Humboldt, Iowa; Patricia (Todd) Larson of Storm Lake, Iowa; 14 grandchildren; Misty, Michelle, Schelese, Joshua, Tasha. AJ, Robert, Andrea, McKennan, Christopher, Alyssa, Katelyn, and Trevor; 26 great-grandchildren; along with extended family and friends including very special friends Rick and Linda Reckamp and their family. She was preceded in death by her parents: Lloyd and Freida Sauter; first husband: Robert Myott; infant son: Patrick Joseph; brother: Lloyd Sauter Jr.; granddaughter: Shelby Myott; and granddaughter-in-law: Kylee Myott.
