Marian A. Biggins

Marian (“Grandma Biggins”) left us on January 7, 2016 at the beautiful age of 99. But by then, Marian had gotten so tired, it was high time to go “home” to be with Clayton. J.J., her oldest great-grandson, recently remarked ... “How many kids get to know their great grandmother - and know her well.” Grandma would cherish hearing that. She loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren so very much. Marian was born on November 2, 1916 in Hornick, Iowa. Some years later, Marian, three little brothers and parents moved to Schaller, Iowa where her dad opened a hardware store. A picture-perfect childhood with fond memories. Roll forward to 1940, Marian met her young-farmer Clayton at a dance at Cobblestone. They married on February, 1941 and later became parents of daughter Sandy. Marian and Sandy lived in Seattle while Clayton served in the Army during WWII. When Clayt was discharged, it was back to Iowa - first to Storm Lake to the farm, then Hornick, then back to Storm Lake to retire and build their dream home on the lake. Marian was active in the Methodist church - she and Clayton enjoyed many years as MYF leaders. Marian also loved to crochet and made Sandy and every one of the kids and grandkids beautiful afghans. When it was time to leave the dream home, she and Clayton moved to Regency Care Center in Norwalk, Iowa - near Sandy. Regency has been home to Marian for eleven years ... she was an avid reader, loved beating everybody at Skip Bo, and please, don’t interrupt her on Bingo day. She is preceded in death by her parents, Etta and Clyde Prichard, her brothers Quinn and Stan Prichard. Left to cherish her memory are daughter Sandy, grandson Brad and wife Nancy, Buffy and husband Bo, brother and sister-in-law Ken and Nancy Prichard, brother-in-law Don Biggins, great-grandchildren J.J, Joe, Nick, Chad, Paige, dear nephews, nieces, other family and friends. Take care of her, Grandpa ... we love and miss her. Funeral services will be held Monday, January 11, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. at the Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake. Burial will follow in the Buena Vista Memorial Park Cemetery. The Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake is in charge of the arrangements.
