Lyle Peters

Lyle Peters, age 78, of Storm Lake, Iowa died Monday, October 27, 2014 in Fort Dodge, Iowa. Funeral services will be held Thursday, October 30, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at Grace Lutheran Church in Storm Lake with military rites by the Storm Lake AMVETS Post #66 to follow. Burial will be in the Buena Vista Memorial Park Cemetery in Storm Lake. Visitation will take place Wednesday, October 29, 2014 from 5-8:00 p.m. at the Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake. The Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake is in charge of the arrangements. Lyle LeRoy Peters was born June 29, 1936 in rural Sac County, Iowa, the son of Claus and Belle (Jansen) Peters. Lyle was baptized at the Wheatland Presbyterian Church in rural Breda, Iowa on September 6, 1936. Lyle entered the United States Navy on April 2, 1954. He proudly served his country until his honorable discharge on June 27, 1957. On May 1, 1960, Lyle was united in marriage to Marilyn Luckow in Lake View. They later divorced. Together they had four children: Jeffery Jay, Julie Dawn, Joelle Denee, and Jeanna Danielle. Lyle spent his life working as a barber as the owner and operator of Lyle’s Barber Shop since 1966. Lyle was a faithful member of Grace Lutheran Church in Storm Lake. He also was active as a member of the AMVETS and the Alta VFW. In his spare time, Lyle enjoyed fishing, mowing, and helping others. Most of all, he cherished the time spent with family and friends. He will be remembered as a loving and caring father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. Those left to cherish his memory include children: Jeff (Judi) Peters of Harlingen, Texas; Julie Christiansen (Tony Ebel) of Storm Lake, Iowa; Joelle (Pat) Ryherd of Newell, Iowa; Jeanna (Vince) Krepps; grandchildren: Caitlin, Ashley, Nicholas, and Noah Peters of Harlingen, Texas; Missy (Eric) Kloss of Ft. Wright, Kentucky; Daniel (Amber) Christiansen of North Liberty, Iowa; Dillon and Dustin Ebel of Storm Lake, Iowa; Patrick (Emily) Ryherd of Haverhill, Iowa; Levi Ryherd of Ames, Iowa; Trevor, Tayla, Tyler, and Tristan Krepps; great-grandchildren: Sawyer Kloss of Ft. Wright, Kentucky; Laiken Christiansen of North Liberty, Iowa; brothers: Don (Connie) Peters of Washburn, Iowa; Howard Peters of Marshalltown, Iowa; sisters: Judy (John) Lympus of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; Wanda Martin of Independence, Iowa; sister-in-law, Carol Peters of Storm Lake, Iowa; extended family and many friends. Lyle was preceded in death by his parents, Claus and Belle Peters; infant son, Jamie Peters; brother, Melvin Peters, and sisters: Donna Mae Peters, Velma Arnette, Eunice Crosser, and Sharon O’Neal.
