LuVerne F. Vonnahme

LuVerne F. Vonnahme, age 91, of Remsen, Iowa and formerly of Storm Lake, Iowa died Tuesday, May 7, 2019 at Happy Siesta Health Care Center in Remsen. Funeral Mass will take place Saturday, May 11, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Storm Lake. Burial will be in the St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will take place Friday, May 10, 2019 from 4-8:00 p.m. with a rosary at 7:15 p.m. followed by a vigil service all at the Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in STORM LAKE. The Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake is in charge of the arrangements. LuVerne Francis Vonnahme was born October 7, 1927 in Carroll, Iowa the son of William and Laura (Noethe) Vonnahme. As an infant, LuVerne was baptized at Holy Family Church in Lidderdale, Iowa. Growing up, LuVerne attended school in Carroll and graduated from Carroll High School in 1946. On May 24, 1949, LuVerne was united in marriage to Alice Pudenz at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church in rural Carroll. Together, they were blessed with five children: Neil, Mark, Tim, Alan, and SueAnn. LuVerne was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Storm Lake where he belonged to the Knights of Columbus. His faith was very important to him. In his spare time, LuVerne enjoyed traveling with his wife, Alice. He also loved dining with family and friends. Family was very important to him and he treasured spending time with them. LuVerne will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. Those left to cherish his memory include his children: Neil (Denise) Vonnahme of Redmond, Washington; Mark (Rosie) Vonnahme of LeMars, Iowa; Tim (Barb) Vonnahme of Henderson, Nevada; Alan (Kimberly) Vonnahme of Villisca, Iowa; SueAnn (Tom) Lastuvka of Clive, Iowa; grandchildren: Adam (Sarah) Vonnahme; Jeff (Nicole) Vonnahme; Stephanie (Adam) Jones; Matt (Tara) Vonnahme; Mason Vonnahme; Morgan Vonnahme; Molly (Brandon) Bauer; Jill (Alexis) Marmol; Becca (Matt) Klein; Michael Lastuvka; Rachel (Garrett) York; Aaron Lastuvka; 16 great grandchildren; brothers-in-law: Ken (Karen) Pudenz and Fred (Theresa) Pudenz; extended family and friends. LuVerne was preceded in death by his parents, Bill and Laura Vonnahme; wife, Alice Vonnahme; two brothers: Darrell Vonnahme and Bill Vonnahme; one sister, Ruth Schwartzkopf; and daughter-in-law, Teresa Vonnahme.
