Lucile Evon Cochran

Lucile Evon Cochran, age 96, of Storm Lake, Iowa died Tuesday, May 24, 2016 at North Lake Manor in Storm Lake. Memorial services will be held Friday, June 3, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at the Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake. Burial will be in the Cedar Cemetery in Fonda, Iowa. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Memorials may be directed to the Cedar Cemetery in Fonda, Box 85, Fonda, Iowa 50540. The Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake is in charge of the arrangements. Lucile was born July 10, 1919 in Nemaha to her parents Benjamin Samuel Howie and Ola Moss Howie. She graduated from Fonda Public School in 1936, went to Buena Vista for one year in 1936-1937, and then Madam Kennedy Beauty School 1937-1938. She married Eugene Stanley Cochran on December 5, 1942. They had two sons, Milton Arthur and Dale Eugene. Eugene passed away August, 1978. Lucile worked in beauty shops in Fonda, Nemaha and Turner’s in Storm Lake until 1969. Then she worked as a secretary at Stanton Electric Shop until she retired in 1990. The family moved to Casino in 1949 and then Lakeside in 1950. Lucile sold the lake house in June of 2013. They had lived by the lake in Lakeside most of their adult lives. The family fished and hunted for years while the boys were growing up. After the boys went to college Gene and Lucile toured the country while visiting Milton and Dale on opposite sides of the country and enjoying their grandchildren. They spent many weekends flying to pancake breakfasts in first the Cesena 140 and then their Tri-Pacer plane. After Gene passed away, Lucile had the opportunity to travel to Africa, Norway, Great Britain, Scotland, Ireland, France and Italy. She remained busy with volunteer work and belonged to several organizations. She was a member of the Business and Professional Women’s Assoc., Senior Citizens’ Site Council, First Presbyterian Church, Delphian Club and Eastern Star. Milton and Mary live in Landenberg, Pennsylvania and have two daughters, Abigail and Laura. Abby and her husband live in Port Orchard, Washington and have three children. Laura and her husband are also in Port Orchard. Dale and Beverly live in Littleton, Colorado and have two daughters, Stephanie and Christa. Stephanie and her husband live in Napa, California and have three children. Christa and her husband are in Alexandria, Virginia. Lucile will be interred with Eugene in Fonda’s Cedar Township Cemetery.
