Judy Ann Ripke

Judy A. Ripke, age 73, of Rembrandt, Iowa died Tuesday, November 10, 2015 at St. Luke Lutheran Home in Spencer, Iowa. Funeral services will be held Saturday, November 14, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Rembrandt. Burial will follow in the Buena Vista Memorial Park Cemetery in Storm Lake. Visitation will take place Friday, November 13, 2015 from 5-7:00 p.m. at the Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake. The Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake is in charge of the arrangements. Judith Ann Owings was born July 1, 1942, in Holstein, Iowa, the daughter of Melville and Anna (Goslin) Owings. In her youth, her family moved to the Storm Lake area. Judy attended school in Storm Lake, graduating from Storm Lake High School in 1960. She continued her education at Buena Vista College. On August 5, 1961, Judy was united in marriage to Melvin Ripke at the Lakeside Presbyterian Church in Storm Lake. Together they were blessed with three children: Randy, Michelle, and Melanie. Judy stayed home to raise the children and help on the farm. She also worked as a secretary at Methodist Manor Retirement Community for many years. Judy was a member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Rembrandt where she was a part of the church circle and quilting group. Judy enjoyed crafting and painting, and she went to many craft fairs to share her talents with family, friends, and the community. Judy was always willing to help others. She was her grandchildren’s number one fan, always going to their games and events to support them. She will be remembered as a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. Those left to cherish her memory include her husband of 54 years, Melvin Ripke of Rembrandt, Iowa; children: Randy (Beth) Ripke of Rembrandt, Iowa; Michelle (Shawn) Huff of Lago Vista, Texas; grandchildren: Michael Ripke, Bradley (Brandy) Ripke, Christopher Ripke, Tyler Huff, and Jasmine Huff; brother, Bill (Beverly) Owings of Sun City, Arizona; nieces and nephews: Brenda (Mick) Koeppe, Brian (Sandy) Martin, Jeff (Iris) Owings, Tami (Mark) Mepham; extended family and friends. Judy was preceded in death by her parents; parents-in-law, Ray and Marie Ripke; infant daughter, Melanie; grandson, Matthew Purvis; and step-granddaughter, Cassandra Huff.
