Josephine E. Olson, age 101, of Storm Lake, Iowa died Thursday, June 10, 2021 at Methodist Manor Retirement Community in Storm Lake. Funeral services will take place Monday, June 14, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at Grace Lutheran Church in Storm Lake. Burial will be in the Storm Lake Cemetery. Visitation will take place Monday, June 14, 2021 from 9:30-11:00 a.m. at the CHURCH. The Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake is in charge of the arrangements. Josephine Edna Marshall was born February 23, 1920 in Kilgore, Nebraska the daughter of William and Irene (Fowler) Marshall. She was baptized, confirmed, and remained a member of the Missouri Synod Lutheran Church. On July 5, 1937, Josephine was united in marriage to Harold I. Olson. Together, they were blessed with five children: Garry, Jennie, Carol, Becky, and Rob. In her younger years, Josephine was a girl scout leader and enjoyed helping with her children’s activities. Later in life, she was active in the church and was a member of the Ladies Aid. In her spare time, she enjoyed garden club, completing crafts, and working on genealogy. She loved going on vacations to the Black Hills, Nebraska, and Colorado. Family was especially important to Josephine, and she treasured the time she was able to spend with them. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. Those left to cherish her memory include her children: Garry (Joyce) Olson of Storm Lake, Iowa; Jennie (Gene) Gamber of Storm Lake, Iowa; Carol (Tim) Bertram of Storm Lake, Iowa; Becky (Steve) Hesselman of Dubuque, Iowa; Rob (Sammie Jo) Olson of Mesa, Arizona; grandchildren: Jacque Olson, Dan Olson, Shelby Watt, Anngila (Jeff) Meek, Tara (Jan Gentry) Bertram, Kim (Al) Lytle, Jennifer (Chad) Jochims, Jill (Mel) Saffran, Nicholas (Liz) Hesselman, Andrew Hesselman, Christopher Olson, Alex Olson; great grandchildren: Nichole Reinen, Shawn (Ali) Reinen, Cory (Larissa) Reinen, Trinity Reiter, Dalton Lytle, Maclayn (Zach) Baumhover, Alex, Caitlyn, Allison, and Emma Hesselman, Jade, Cole, and Jack Jochims; great great grandchildren: Alexander Reinen, Wesley and Wrenley Baumhover; extended family and friends. Josephine is preceded in death by her parents, William and Irene Marshall; husband, Harold I. Olson; and siblings: Gertrude, George, Mary, Eva, Helen, Edwin, Alice, Midge, Pearl, Victor, and Rose.
