Jean A. Behm

Jean A. Behm, age 88, of Storm Lake, Iowa died Sunday, November 27, 2016 at Methodist Manor Retirement Community in Storm Lake. Funeral Mass will be held Friday, December 2, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Storm Lake. Burial will follow in the St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will take place one hour prior to the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the St. Mary's Catholic Church in Storm Lake. The Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake is in charge of the arrangements. Jean Ann McCrickard was born July 4, 1928 near Missouri Valley, Iowa, the daughter of Clarence and Mary Elizabeth (Forde) McCrickard. She attended school in Missouri Valley and graduated high school in 1946. After graduation, Jean began teaching country school. On September 5, 1949, Jean was united in marriage to Donald Behm at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Missouri Valley. Together, they were blessed with five children: Pamela, Rod, Jeff, Tracy, and Mike. Jean was a lifelong, devoted Catholic women. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Storm Lake where she participated in the Guild, Catholic Daughters of America, prayer lines, and cleaning committees. Jean took pride in keeping a clean and tidy home. She enjoyed tending her flowers and riding her bicycle. Many knew Jean as a kind neighbor who was always willing to care for those in need. Jean loved getting together with her friends for coffee and rolls. Most of all, faith and family always came first for Jean. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. Those left to cherish her memory include her children: Pamela (Ted Hesselguesser) Sutton of Omaha, Nebraska; Rod (Judy) Behm of Carroll, Iowa; Jeff (Julia) Behm of Alta, Iowa; Tracy (Ed) Bredvick of Storm Lake, Iowa; Mike (Norma) Behm of Storm Lake, Iowa; grandchildren: Mollie (Rick) Cornell, Heather (Jeramie) Hinote, Matt Behm (Julie Palmer), Mike (Ashley) Behm, Nick Behm, Reverend Patrick Behm, Tom Behm, Robyn Bredvick, Nicole Bredvick, Mark Behm, Jennifer Behm; ten great grandchildren; sisters: Mary Vallier of Missouri Valley, Iowa; Marjorie Burkhead of Boone, Iowa; extended family and friends. Jean was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Don on November 17, 2015; and brother-in-law, Gene Vallier.
