Jane Eugenia Duffy

Jane E. Duffy, age 79, of Storm Lake, Iowa died February 15, 2015 at the Buena Vista Regional Medical Center in Storm Lake. Memorial services will take place Thursday, February 19, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. at the Church of Christ in Storm Lake. Burial will be in the Buena Vista Memorial Park Cemetery in Storm Lake. Visitation will take place Wednesday, February 18, 2015 from 5-7:00 p.m. at the Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake. The Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake is in charge of the arrangements. Jane Eugenia Sorenson was born December 5, 1935 in Cherokee, Iowa the daughter of Jess and Pauline (Thorpe) Sorenson. She was baptized at the Church of Christ in Storm Lake where she remained a lifelong member. Growing up, she attended school in Storm Lake where she graduated from Storm Lake High School in 1955. Following high school graduation, she went to Denver, Colorado where she received her LPN Certificate. In September of 1959, Jane was united in marriage to Joseph Kuzniar in Denver, Colorado. Together, they were blessed with three children: Vicki, Christina, and Becky. They raised their family in Storm Lake where Jane worked as a homemaker and an LPN. In June of 1981, Jane was united in marriage to Francis Duffy in Storm Lake. Together, they ran Jane’s Antiques in Storm Lake. She later worked for Buena Vista University in food service. She loved her job and enjoyed spending time with the students at the University. In her spare time, Jane enjoyed shopping and watching movies. Family was very important to her and she treasured the time she was able to spend with family, especially her grandchildren and getting together for the holidays. Those left to cherish her memory include her mother, Pauline Sorenson of Storm Lake, Iowa; children: Vicki (Steve) Emch of Denver, Colorado; Christina (Tim) Stiles of Hiawatha, Iowa; Becky (Chuck) Arett of Storm Lake, Iowa; grandchildren: Brett (Sara) Stiles of West Des Moines, Iowa; Megan Stiles of Scottsdale, Arizona; Jared and Nick Arett of Storm Lake, Iowa; cousins: Jim McDiarmid, Dee Mittelstadt, Rick Thorpe, and Sandy Thorpe; extended family and many friends. Jane was preceded in death by her father, Jess Sorenson; her husband, Francis Duffy and an infant son, James Kuzniar.
