Fredrick Leon Kraft

Fredrick L. Kraft, age 86, of Fonda, Iowa died Wednesday, October 26, 2022 at his home in Fonda. Funeral Mass will take place Monday, October 31, 2022 at 10:30 a.m. at Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church in Fonda. Burial will be in the St. Columbkille Catholic Cemetery in rural Varina, Iowa. Visitation will take place Sunday, October 30, 2022 from 4-7:00 p.m. at Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church in Fonda. The Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake is in charge of the arrangements. Fredrick Leon Kraft was born June 21, 1936 to Harry and Amber (Wessels) Kraft in Fonda, Iowa. He began his education at Fonda Country School, then transferred to Fonda Public School. He was baptized and confirmed as an adult in 1958 at St. Columbkille’s Catholic Church in Varina, Iowa. He later joined the Our Lady of Good Counsel Church in Fonda, Iowa. Farming was Fredrick’s passion. Fredrick was united in marriage to Karen Leonilla Wolf on January 30, 1958 at the St. Mary’s Parsonage in Storm Lake, Iowa. To this union, five children were born: Dale, Paul, Debora, Donna, and Fredrick. Fred’s first love was family followed closely by his horses. Whenever you could combine family with horses he was in heaven on earth. Fred also enjoyed hunting and his hunting dogs in his earlier years, along with his black angus cattle. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. Fredrick is survived by his wife, Karen L. Kraft of Fonda, Iowa; children: Dale F. (Judy) Kraft of Quimby, Iowa; Paul (Kelli) Kraft of Albert City, Iowa; Debora (Neal) Lindgren of Fonda, Iowa; Donna Weiss of Rockwell City, Iowa; Fredrick J. Kraft of New Boston, Missouri; brothers: Harry G. (Anna) Kraft of New York Mills, Minnesota; grandchildren: Todd J. He also leaves behind one of his loving companions, Lady, his red heeler. Fredrick is preceded in death by his parents: Harry and Amber (Wessels) Kraft; infant brother: Leroy Kraft; brother: Dale J. Kraft; sister: Wanda (Jack) Miller; parents-in-law: Arnie and Mary Rose Wolf; siblings-in-law: Jim and Eileen Maneman.
