Ellen Christie

Ellen (Slagle) Christie, age 42, of West Palm Beach, Florida and formerly of Storm Lake, Iowa died May 30, 2017 in Florida. A Time of Remembrance will take place Saturday, June 10, 2017 from 2-4:00 p.m. at the Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake. A Memorial Service will begin at 3:30 p.m. at the funeral home. The Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake is in charge of the arrangements. Ellen Ruth Slagle was born May 10, 1975 in Storm Lake, Iowa, the daughter of Charles F. and Mary A. (Crowley) Slagle. In her youth, she was baptized and confirmed at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Storm Lake. Ellen attended grade school at St. Mary’s Catholic School, and graduated from Storm Lake High School in 1993. She continued her education at Buena Vista University and the University of South Dakota. On June 27, 1998, Ellen was united in marriage to Jason Matthew Christie in Council Bluffs, Iowa. Together, they were blessed with one daughter, Chloe Anne Christie. Ellen devoted her life to taking care of her loving family. She enjoyed art and crafting with her daughter or taking weekend trips to museums with her husband. She liked sunning by the pool, going to live Phish concerts with her friends, attending yoga classes, volunteering at her daughters’ school and in the community, and her annual visits to Storm Lake to see family and friends. Ellen will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. Those left to cherish her memory include her husband, Jason Matthew Christie of West Palm Beach, Florida; daughter, Chloe Anne Christie of West Palm Beach, Florida; parents, Charles and Mary Slagle of Storm Lake, Iowa; sisters: Margaret “Peggy” Slagle and her son, Nickolas; Susan (Cary) Slagle-Boyd and their children: Isaac, Liam, Carly, David, and Jodi; parents-in-law, Richard and Ardeth Christie; sisters-in-law: Kelly (Tom) Braddy and their children, Jacob and Anna; Tori Christie (Jay Killian); Brandi Christie (Matt Koehler) and their son, Milo; aunts and uncles, including Julia and David Nixon, Joan Schlegel, Nancy Slagle, and Tom Slagle; extended family and friends. Ellen was preceded in death by her grandparents: Joseph and Della Crowley; Francis and Veronica Slagle; uncle, Arman Schlegel; and infant brother, Karl Joseph Slagle. Memorials made in Ellen’s honor will be directed to the Storm Lake Public Library or The Phish Mockingbird Foundation (www.mbird.org).
