Doris Darlene Paulsen, age 94, of Storm Lake, Iowa died on February 16, 2022, in Storm Lake. Memorial Services will be held Monday, February 21, 2022 at 11:00 am at the Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake, Iowa. Visitation will be one hour prior at the funeral home in STORM LAKE. The Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake is in charge of the arrangements. Doris Darlene Paulsen was born on September 22, 1927 to Arthur and Irene (Oneson) Strand in DePew, Iowa. She was baptized in 1927 in Palo Alto County and confirmed at St. John’s Lutheran Church in DePew. Doris was a member of St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Storm Lake. She attended grade school in Nora Springs and high school in Albert City, Iowa. Doris was united in marriage to Orville M. Paulsen on June 1, 1947 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in DePew, Iowa. To this union, three children were born: Judi, Andy, and Peggy. Doris was a hard worker. She and Orville owned multiple businesses through the years, including Speed Wash Laundry & Dry Cleaning and Paulsen Steakhouse and Lounge. Doris enjoyed painting, watching birds, playing cards, and going to the casino. She loved traveling and spending time in Arizona. More than anything, she enjoyed her time with family, friends, and her beloved Coco. Doris is survived by her children: Judi Jaggie of Cherokee, Iowa; Andy (Ruth) Paulsen of Storm Lake, Iowa; Peggy Johnson of Topeka, Kansas; brother: Irvin Strand of Storm Lake, Iowa; grandchildren: Staci Holmstrom (Eric Solum) of Storm Lake, Iowa; Scott (Julie) Johnson of Topeka, Kansas; Chris (Zeba) Paulsen of Le Mars, Iowa; Ryan (Tabitha) Johnson of Longview, Texas; Anna (Joey) Speers of Alta, Iowa; great-grandchildren: Andrew Johnson, Travis Johnson, Kyleigh Johnson, Morgan Johnson, Calista Russo, Landen Speers, Zachary Johnson, Olivia Paulsen, Halle Speers, Zachariah Issa; and extended family and friends. Doris is preceded in death by her husband, Orville Paulsen; parents: Arthur and Irene (Oneson) Strand; parents-in-law: Paul and Marie (Hansen) Paulsen; brother: Lloyd Strand; sisters: Mary Mausehund and Betty Legler; sons-in-law: Kenneth Johnson and Lawrence Jaggie; and great-granddaughter: Emma Grace Johnson.
