Darin Drew Sliefert

Darin D. Sliefert, age 47, of Peoria, Arizona, formerly of Alta, Iowa passed away suddenly and unexpectedly on September 3, 2015 in Peoria. Funeral services will be held Saturday, September 12, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. at the United Church of Christ in Alta. Burial will be in the Buena Vista Memorial Park Cemetery in Storm Lake. Visitation will take place Friday, September 11, 2015 from 4-8:00 p.m. with the family present from 6-8:00 p.m. at the Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established. The Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake is in charge of the arrangements. Darin was born in Storm Lake, Iowa on August 17, 1968 to Donald and Dianne Sliefert. Darin was born fifth in a large family of six children. He seemed to feel his role was primarily to antagonize his sisters. Though he told many tales of his brothers having a little fun at his expense as well. He grew up in a hardworking family and took those lessons far in his own life. Darin was an athlete, excelling in multiple sports. He received a scholarship for baseball, but an injury brought that to a premature end. Even without a formal education he was very successful in business and never let anything get in his way. Darin's greatest accomplishment was his loving relationships. He made it known exactly where you stood with him, and nearly everyone he met was a friend. He was respected, looked up to, and loved by not only his family, but most that crossed his path. His greatest joy was indulging his loved ones. Darin also enjoyed travel and seeing new places, golfing, sporting events (particularly when it was one of his children playing), card and board games and watching movies (especially certain movies that some of us were tired of). He particularly enjoyed simply being present with his loved ones and sharing time, or being able to help solve someone else's problem. Darin is survived by his adoring wife, Kimberly, of Peoria, Arizona; children, Adam of Peoria, Arizona; Ryan of Brockton, Massachusetts; Alyssa of Peoria, Arizona and Brianna of Peoria, Arizona; his parents, Donald and Dianne of Alta, Iowa; his siblings, Dan (Traci) of Alta, Iowa; Debbie Swieca (Michael) of Sugar Grove, Illinois; David (Sammi) of Rothschild, Wisconsin; Darci Sauter (Steve) of Alta, Iowa; Dawn Spiess (Greg) of Rock Rapids, Iowa; father-in-law, Robert Brown of Peoria, Arizona; mother-in-law, Carolyn Brown of Cadillac, Michigan; and sister-in-law, Leslie Brown King of Peoria, Arizona. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews, each of which he loved very much. He was preceded in death by grandparents; aunts and uncles; and his two dearest friends, Todd Edgington and Scott Gustafson.
