Carol Peters

Carol Peters, age 88, of Storm Lake, Iowa died June 3, 2021 at the Good Samaritan Society in Newell, Iowa. Funeral services will take place Saturday, June 12, 2021 at 10:30 a.m. at Grace Lutheran Church in Storm Lake. Burial will be in the Wall Lake Cemetery in Wall Lake, Iowa. Visitation will take place Friday, June 11, 2021 from 5-7:00 p.m. at the Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake. The Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake is in charge of arrangements. Carol was born in Vail, Jackson Township, Crawford County, Iowa on 4th November 1932, to Elmer and Margaret (Brotherson) Meyer. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, rural Sac City, Iowa. Carol and her four younger siblings grew up on a farm in rural Sac City where their parents grew corn/soybeans and raised purebred Hereford cattle. She graduated from Sac Community High School in 1950. On 25th June 1950, Carol Ann Meyer was united in marriage to Melvin Wayne Peters at the Lutheran Parsonage in Sac City, Iowa. This union was blessed with three sons: David, Dennis, and Douglas. In 1965, Carol received a BA from Buena Vista College and taught public school in Storm Lake for nearly 30 years. Additionally, she was a long time member of Grace Lutheran Church in Storm Lake, Iowa. After retirement, Carol and Melvin spent time traveling together including winters in Texas or Arizona where they enjoyed the mild weather and square dancing. Carol enjoyed reading, fishing, traveling, camping, crocheting, baking, slot machines, and dining in restaurants. Most of all, they enjoyed spending time with their family. Carol treasured her family & friends; and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. She will always be remembered as a devoted daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, teacher, and friend. Those left to cherish her memory include: Sons - David (Lori) Peters of Kingsley, Iowa; Dennis (Margaret) Peters of Storm Lake, Iowa; Doug (Joanne) Peters of Newell, Iowa. Grandchildren - Dan Peters, Chad Peters, Christopher Peters, Mike Peters, Brittany Desy, Lindsey Peters, Brian Lowry, David Lowry – along with their significant others & children. Siblings/Siblings in Law – Dee Meyer, Lenore Rix, Allen (Carolyn) Meyer, Joyce (Bob) Murphy. And many, extended family and friends. Carol Peters was preceded in death by her husband, Melvin Peters; parents Elmer & Margaret Meyer; parents -in-law Claus & Belle Peters; brother Marlin Meyer; brother-in-law John Rix; and daughter- in -law Christine Peters.
