Betty J. McCrory

Betty J. McCrory, age 91, of Holstein, Iowa died Wednesday, June 29, 2022 at the Buena Vista Regional Medical Center in Storm Lake, Iowa. Memorial services will take place Wednesday, July 6, 2022 at 10:30 a.m. at the St. Mark Lutheran Church in Storm Lake, Iowa. Burial will be in the Storm Lake Cemetery. Visitation will be held Tuesday, July 5, 2022 from 5-7:00 p.m. at the Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake. The Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake is in charge of arrangements. Betty Jane McCrory was born July 7, 1930 to John and Anna (Williams) Fjeld in Primghar, Iowa. She was baptized and confirmed at Grace Lutheran Church in Primghar and graduated high school from Primghar High. Betty worked at the courthouse in Primghar then started a job with Augsburg Publishing in Minnesota. She was introduced to the love of her life, Glenn McCrory, by a friend. They were married May 11, 1957 at the Primghar Lutheran Church. Together, the couple settled in Storm Lake, Iowa where they were blessed with two sons: Brian and Scott. Betty raised her family, caring for Glenn and her boys. She always kept a spotless house. She was a strict, but loving mother and family always came first to Betty. When Betty’s boys were older, she worked for the City of Storm Lake. Later, she worked at Lake Hardware, then was a cook at Storm Lake Public School. Betty was a talented cook and baker, with her specialty being cherry and mulberry pie. She loved tending to her flower garden and was especially proud of her Hibiscus flowers. In her younger years, Betty enjoyed bowling and then later enjoyed golfing. She was an avid sports fan and was a big fan of the Chicago Cubs. She and Glenn traveled to Wrigley Field to watch the Cubs play. Betty was a member of the St. Mark Lutheran Church where she served in the ladies’ circle. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. Betty is survived by her sons: Brian McCrory of Holstein, Iowa; Scott McCrory of Dillon, Colorado; granddaughter: Katie; sister-in-law: Lila Fjeld of Primghar; many nieces and nephews; extended family and friends. She is preceded in death by her husband, Glenn McCrory; parents: John and Anna (Williams) Fjeld; brothers: Bill (Grace) Fjeld; Ralph Fjeld; Alvin Fjeld; Richard (Shirley) Fjeld; and Robert (Sandra) Fjeld.
