Bea Huntington

Bea Huntington, age 81, of Storm Lake, Iowa died Friday, August 25, 2017 at the Buena Vista Regional Medical Center in Storm Lake. Memorial services will be held Wednesday, August 30, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. at the United Methodist Church in Alta. Visitation will take place Tuesday, August 29, 2017 from 5-7:00 p.m. at the Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Alta. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the United Methodist Church in Alta, Buena Vista Regional Medical Center Foundation, or the ALS Association of Iowa. The Fratzke and Jensen Funeral Home in Alta is in charge of the arrangements. Shirley Berniece Boswell was born November 22, 1935 in Adams County, Iowa the daughter of Elza and Mabel (Scott) Boswell. She was baptized in 1953 at Mt. Etna Methodist Church. Growing up, she attended school in Corning where she graduated from Corning High School in 1954. On April 28, 1956, Bea was united in marriage to Glen Huntington at the Methodist Church in Corning. Together, they were blessed with four children: Debra, Kandra, Barbra and Tyler. Bea was a member of the United Methodist Church in Alta where she served as the United Methodist Women Treasurer. She also belonged to the P.E.O. Chapter GB in Alta where she served as Treasurer. Bea was an avid duplicate bridge card player. In her spare time, she enjoyed traveling, especially to National Historic Lodges throughout the United States. Bea also loved golfing and entertaining family and friends. She loved spending time with her family and will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. Those left to cherish her memory include her husband, Glen Huntington of Storm Lake, Iowa; children: Debra (Mark) Sherwood of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; Kandra (John) Dickerson of Des Moines, Iowa; Barbra (Kevin) Klein of Urbandale, Iowa; Tyler (Linda) Huntington of Perry, Iowa; grandchildren: Jennifer (Kyle) Gerber; Jeremy (Amy) Sherwood; Ryan Sherwood; Lindsey Dickerson; Kasandra Dickerson; Amber Anderson; Aaron (fiancé, Lisa McLain) Anderson; Dustin Klein; Kelsey Klein; Gabrielle, Brooke and Addison Huntington; great grandchildren: McKenzie, Kaylie, Madison, Jaxon and Weston Gerber; Kinnick , Whittaker, Paxton, and Tate Sherwood; Rayne and Canyon Kelso; brother, Clarence (Bobby) Boswell of Cumberland, Iowa; sisters: Laura (Warren) Johnston of Bridgewater, Iowa; Alice (John) Burchard of Omaha, Nebraska; sister-in-law, Blondie Boswell of Greenfield, Iowa; nieces; nephews; cousins; extended family and friends. Bea was preceded in death by her parents, Elza and Mabel Boswell; and brothers: Albert (Tootsie) Boswell and Orval Boswell. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the United Methodist Church in Alta, Buena Vista Regional Medical Center Foundation, or the ALS Association of Iowa.
