Timothy Kier Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Timothy "Tim" Kier, age 71, of Newell, Iowa passed away Friday, July 15, 2022 at Arlington Place of Pocahontas, Iowa. Funeral services will take place Tuesday, July 26, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at the First Congregational United Church of Christ in Newell. Burial will be in the Newell Cemetery. Visitation will take place Monday, July 25, 2022 from 5-8:00 p.m. at the Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in STORM LAKE. The Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake is in charge of the arrangements. Timothy Wendell Kier was born on November 17,1950 in Newton, Iowa to Donald and Doris (Hummel) Kier. Tim was welcomed home by his brother, Dave. He was later joined by his brother, Steve, and sister, Patricia. Tim was baptized as a youth. Growing up, he attended school in Newell where he graduated from Newell Providence School in 1969. Tim enlisted in the United States Army Reserves in January 1970. He served for six years until he was honorably discharged. December 1, 1970 marked the opening of Don’s Farm Supply where Tim worked with his dad for the next 20 years. He was later employed by Jacobs Corporation, Farmers Options and Hedging, and NutraTech over the years. Tim was united in marriage to Joelle Anderson on August 12, 1979. Together, they were blessed with two children, Alex and Kalee. Tim was an active member of the First Congregational United Church of Christ in Newell. He also held positions with the Newell-Fonda Athletic Boosters and Newell City Council. During his retirement, Tim enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren and traveling with family and friends. He was dedicated to his family and always made sure they were well cared for at all times. He loved the sunshine and good music. Tim will be greatly missed by family and friends. Those left to remember Tim are his wife, Joelle of Newell, Iowa; two children: Alex Kier of Waterloo, Iowa; Kalee (Aaron) Gerdes of Grimes, Iowa; grandchildren: Myla Kier and Beau Gerdes; brother: Dave (Jan) Kier of Newell, Iowa; sister: Patty (Rusty) Kosky of Storm Lake, Iowa; sister-in-law: Kolesa Kier of Newell, Iowa; sister-in-law: Jolene (Ken) Davis of Storm Lake, Iowa; stepmother: Bonnie Kier; many nieces and nephews; extended family and many friends. Tim was preceded in death by his parents, Don (2017) and Doris (1999); his brother, Steve (2020); father-in-law, Joel Anderson (2013) and mother-in-law, Mabel Anderson (2002). Special thanks for the care given by the doctors and staff of Hope Harbor, Arlington Place and St. Croix Hospice. Everyone who helped Tim holds a special place in our hearts.
