Timothy Bertram Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Timothy Arn Bertram, age 81, of Lakeside, Iowa passed away on November 25, 2021. Funeral services will take place Thursday, December 2, 2021 at 10:30 a.m. at Grace Lutheran Church in Storm Lake. Burial will be in the Storm Lake Cemetery. Visitation will take place Wednesday, December 1, 2021 from 5-7:00 p.m. at the Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in STORM LAKE. The Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake is in charge of the arrangements. Tim was born in Creston, Iowa on July 5, 1940, to Rev. Arnold H. Bertram and Thora Elizabeth (Reeck) Bertram. He attended Storm Lake Public Schools until he joined the Navy in 1957. He proudly served our country while stationed on the USS Catamount from 1957 to 1961. He married the love of his life, Carol Olson, on Aug. 25, 1962, and they were blessed with two daughters, Tara and Kim. Tim started working for the Iowa State Highway Commission in 1962 as a Soil Analyst and in 1964 transferred to the Iowa Department of Transportation as a Weight Enforcement Officer. He made many friends from his time working, including his colleagues and many truck drivers he met in the line of duty. Tim retired in 2002 after 40 years of service to the state of Iowa. Tim loved spending time with his family and friends, watching the Iowa Hawkeyes, traveling, fishing, trapping, hunting, listening to country music, playing his air guitar and making up silly little songs. He especially loved when his grandchildren and great grandchildren would come to visit. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Carol, of Lakeside; his brothers, Clayton (Sandy) Bertram of Escondido, CA and Nick (Nyla) Bertram of Spirit Lake, IA; his daughters, Tara Bertram (Jan Gentry) of Shawnee, KS and Kim (Al) Lytle of Aurelia, IA; his grandchildren, Dalton Lytle of Manning, IA and Maclayn (Zach) Baumhover of Auburn, IA; his great grandchildren, Wesley and Wrenley Baumhover; sisters-in-law, Jennie Gamber, Becky (Steve) Hesselman and Sharon Boysen; brothers-in-law, Garry (Joyce) Olson and Rob (Sammie) Olson; nieces, Steph (Tom) Jakubik, Leah (Tom) Werderitsch, Anngila (Jeff) Meek, Jacque Olson, Jennifer (Chad) Jochims and Jill (Mel) Saffran; and nephews, Matthew Bertram (Joselyn Maloney), John (Leilani) Bertram, Dan (Sarah) Olson, Shelby Watt, Nick (Liz) Hesselman, Andrew Hesselman, Christopher Olson and Alex Olson. He also leaves behind his closest, lifelong friends from 7th grade, Dale (Karen) Knights, Ken (Chris) Richardson and his close friend John Eliason, and numerous other family members and friends. Tim was preceded in death by his parents, several aunts and uncles, including his favorite aunt and uncle, Helen and Kenny Anderson, his in-laws, Harold and Jo Olson and his brother-in-law, Gene Gamber.
