Terry Dean

Terry Dean, age 56, of Sioux City, Iowa formerly of Storm Lake, Iowa lost his battle with bone cancer on Tuesday, April 21, 2015 at the Odebolt Nursing and Rehab Center in Odebolt. Graveside services will be held Friday, April 24, 2015 at 11:30 a.m. at the Lake View Cemetery in Spirit Lake, Iowa. Visitation will take place Thursday, April 23, 2015 from 5-8:00 p.m. at the Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake. The Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake is in charge of the arrangements. Terry H. Dean was born December 29, 1958 in Spirit Lake, Iowa the son of Lynn Harold and Veronica (Lingard) Dean. Terry moved to the Storm Lake area with his family. He attended school in Storm Lake and graduated from Storm Lake High School in 1977. Terry spent his life living in northwest Iowa, making his home in Sioux City for the past thirty years. He enjoyed working nights at Hy-Vee in Sioux City. His gift of conversation allowed him to make many friends while at work. The beauty of nature was a big part of Terry’s life. He enjoyed going for walks, but especially traveling by train so he could look at the scenery along the way. Terry also loved music and attended many concerts throughout his life. Most of all, Terry will be remembered for his kind personality and gentle soul. He kept a positive attitude through his battle with bone cancer, and was truly thankful for the care given by Dr. Michael A. Jennings, M.D., Care Initiatives in Sioux City, Odebolt Nursing and Rehab Center, and Angel Flight. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. Those left to cherish his memory include his siblings: Jim (Connie) Dean of Spencer, Iowa; Veronica Eilenfeldt of Mesa, Arizona; Marcia (Larry) Pepper of Johnston, Iowa; Bev (Bob) Jones of Eldora, Iowa; Kim Dean of Mesa, Arizona; Tim Dean of Spencer, Iowa; Dorene (Dan) Ehlers of Newell, Iowa; nieces and nephews: Jamie Dean; Jeffery, Michelle, and Melissa Burroughs; Gary, Denise, and Wade Newcomer; Heather Halterman; Sunshine Dean-Huisman; Shiloh Dean; Kory Dean and Niki Dean-Anderson; Jordan Dean; Shannon and Adam Dean; Ryan and Jenny Ahlers; many great nieces and nephews; extended family and friends. Terry was preceded in death by his parents; infant brother, Gary Lynn Dean; two sisters: Lori Ann Dean and Helen Burroughs; and nephew, Craig Ahlers.
