Suzanne Morrow

Suzanne Marie Morrow, age 69, of Sioux Rapids, Iowa died Saturday, April 15, 2023 surrounded by her loving family. Funeral services will take place Thursday, April 20, 2023 at 10:30 a.m. at the United Methodist Church in Storm Lake. Burial will be in the Buena Vista Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be held Wednesday, April 19, 2023 from 5-7:00 p.m. at the Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established and will be disbursed per Suzanne's wishes. The Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake is in charge of the arrangements. Suzanne Marie Palmer was born in Davenport, Iowa on October 9, 1953, the oldest daughter of Richard and Shirley (Howard) Palmer. Growing up, Suzanne attended school in Tipton, Iowa and graduated from Tipton High School in 1972. There she met the love of her life, Michael Craig Morrow. She went on to attend the University of Iowa. On February 12, 1972, Suzanne was united in marriage to Michael Craig at the Tipton United Methodist Church. The couple was blessed with three children: Michael Jeremy, Erik William, and Matthew Brandon. Mike and Sue both had a passion for helping others, especially those struggling with mental health complications. Their professional journeys began as co-administrators of mental health facilities. Starting in Monroe County then Chickasaw County and finally putting down roots in Buena Vista County in 1976. To better serve their community, Mike and Sue started Spectra Health Care. In 1988, they started the transitional living facility in Alta, IA. This facility helped many people with mental health issues rehabilitate back into the community. Mike and Sue worked side by side until Mikes passing in 1990. Sue continued to work hard as the sole administrator for an additional 19 years. In 2009, Sue retired from Spectra Health. After retirement, she went on to work at Tyson as a scale house accountant. She always enjoyed the nightly chats with the producers and truckers. Her final career path led to the position of legal secretary for Steve Roth Law in Storm Lake, IA. She retired in the fall of 2022. Her favorite job was being Nana to her kids, grandkids and great grandchildren. You could find her in the bleachers of football games and wrestling matches or cheering on the granddaughters at Dance. In her spare time Sue volunteered for over 20 years for the C.A.S.A. Program and served as a commissioner on the Environmental Protection Commission. Sue had a huge passion for all things politics and was a supporter of all the politics processes. She was a life-long member of the United Methodist Church. Suzanne is survived by her loving children: Mike (Beth) Morrow of Sioux Rapids, Iowa; Erik (Ami) Morrow of Rembrandt, Iowa; Matt (Sara) Morrow of Bellevue, Nebraska; brothers: Mike (Tammy) Palmer of Fort Myers, Florida; Richard (Ronnie) Palmer of Leander, Texas; sisters: Patsy (Joel) Collinson of Dallas Center, Iowa; Pam (Rick) Loring of Iowa City, Iowa; grandchildren: Miranda (Brandon) Edwards; Kaben Morrow; Kiely Morrow; Tiernan Weede; Treyton Johnson; Michael Morrow; Maebree Morrow; Marissa Morrow; Maverick Morrow; great-grandchildren: Lucas, Emmet, Hailey, and Bennett Edwards; extended family and friends. She will be deeply missed by those who knew and loved her. She was preceded in death by her husband, Michael Craig; parents: Richard and Shirley Palmer; parents-in-law: Ned and Shirley Morrow.
