Shirley M. Stucynski

Shirley M. Stucynski, age 76, of Storm Lake, Iowa died Tuesday, September 5, 2023 at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha, Nebraska. Memorial Mass will take place Saturday, September 16, 2023 at 10:30 a.m. at the St. Mary's Catholic Church in Storm Lake. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the CHURCH. Memorials may be made in Shirley's memory. The Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake is in charge of the arrangements. Shirley Schimmer was born on December 23, 1946 to Leo and Elizabeth (Schleimer) Schimmer. She grew up attending school in Galva, Iowa. After graduation, she moved to Minnesota where she met Dewyne Stucynski at Withrow Ballroom. They were married at Our Lady of Good Counsel Church in Holstein, Iowa on April 26, 1969. They happily and lovingly danced their way through life together as best friends for 56 years. Shirley was a kind soul with a big heart. She loved to lead the Rosary and serve as Lector at the St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Storm Lake. Shirley enjoyed working as a teller at the Security Trust and Savings Bank in Storm Lake and brought many smiles to those around her. She was full of energy and enjoyed going for walks, dancing (especially the polka), biking, swimming, sewing, knitting, and spending time with family. She especially treasured time with her grandchildren. Shirley will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. Left to cherish Shirley’s memory include her beloved husband, Dewyne Stucynski of Storm Lake, Iowa; children: Joyce (Todd) Wegmann of Burlington, Iowa; Sheila (Tim) Tripp of Chanhassen, Minnesota; brother: Leo (Terri) Schimmer of Holstein, Iowa; grandchildren: Adam Wegmann of Carroll, Iowa; Nicholas Wegmann of Burlington, Iowa; Hannah Wegmann of Burlington, Iowa; Isabelle Veien of Chanhassen, Minnesota; Jack Veien of Chanhassen, Minnesota; Jonah Veien of Chanhassen, Minnesota; and siblings-in-law: Janet (Paul) Schimmer; Janet (Elvin) Schimmer; Al (Corrine) Johnson; extended family and friends. Shirley was preceded in death by her parents: Leo and Elizabeth (Schleimer) Schimmer; brothers: Paul Schimmer; Elvin Schimmer; sisters: Norma Schemmel; Corrine Johnson; brother-in-law: Bob Schemmel; and sister-in-law: Wilma Schimmer.
