Rose Wetherell

Rose Wetherell, age 83, of Storm Lake, Iowa passed away on Tuesday, March 27, 2018 in Storm Lake. Funeral Mass will take place Monday, April 2, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at the St. Mary's Catholic Church in Storm Lake. Burial will be in the St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will take place Sunday, April 1, 2018 from 4-7:00 p.m. at the Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake with a parish vigil service starting at 6:30 p.m. The Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake is in charge of the arrangements. Rose Ann Gunsior was born September 13, 1934 in Plains, Pennsylvania the daughter of Benjamin and Lottie (Kulas) Gunsior. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Peters and Paul Church in Plains. Growing up, Rose attended school in Pennsylvania where she graduated from Plains High School in 1953. On October 28, 1961 Rose was united in marriage to Dale Wetherell in Plains. Together, they were blessed with three children: Robert, Lissa, and Dale Jr. Rose was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Storm Lake. Rose truly enjoyed volunteerism. She was a volunteer at the Buena Vista Regional Medical Center Coffee Shop for over 30 years and a weekly volunteer at the SOS Store in Storm Lake. Rose was active in her children’s activities by being a Girl Scout leader and starting Girl Scouts in Newell as well as being a Den Mother for Boy Scouts. She also sat at countless number of sporting events whether it was her children or grandchildren and great granddaughter. She supported her family in every way. Rose and her sister, Sophie, owned and operated the Mini-Mart Convenience Store in Newell for many years. In her spare time, she enjoyed China painting, sewing and she was an avid reader. Family was very important to Rose and she treasured the time she was able to spend with her grandchildren. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. Those left to cherish her memory include her husband, Dale Wetherell of Storm Lake, Iowa; children: Robert Wetherell of Storm Lake, Iowa; Lissa (Tony) Izzo of Kendall Park, New Jersey; Dale Jr. (Barb) Wetherell of Alta, Iowa; grandchildren: Sean and Josh Wetherell; Amanda and Nick Izzo; Rebecca (Zach) Weier; Ben Wetherell; great granddaughter, Danika Wetherell; brother, Leonard (Lorraine) Gunsior of Annapolis; Maryland; sisters: Carol Gilman of Boca Raton, Florida; Betty McPherson of Brick, New Jersey; extended family and friends. Rose was preceded in death by her parents; Benjamin and Lottie Gunsior; sisters: Celia Sconda; Sophie Wetherell; brothers: John Gunsior and Peter Gunsior.
