Kyle J. Drey

Kyle J. Drey, age 33, of Storm Lake, Iowa died Wednesday, June 13, 2018 in rural Storm Lake. Funeral services will be held Monday, June 18, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Storm Lake. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will take place Sunday, June 17, 2018 from 2-8:00 p.m. at the Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Kyle’s name. The Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake is in charge of the arrangements. Kyle Joseph Drey, the son of Daniel and Tracy (McKee) Drey, was born July 24, 1984 in Storm Lake, IA. His mother said he has smiled every day since the day he was born. On August 5, 1984 he was baptized at the Sacred Heart Church in Early. He was later confirmed on April 7, 2002 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Storm Lake. While growing up, Kyle and his siblings were outside from sunup to sundown. Kyle was fortunate to have his father, Daniel, instill a love of farming at a very young age. The family was known to pile in the family vehicle to get in a round of golf after chores were complete.Kyle attended grade school and high school at St. Mary’s Catholic School in Storm Lake. He received his high school diploma in 2003 and decided to continue his education at Buena Vista University. He then went on to be an entrepreneur and built a successful farming/spraying business in the Storm Lake Community in addition to being a contract grower for AMVC. Kyle was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Storm Lake. He was also a very important part of the Merten’s Coffee Club where they held regular meetings. Kyle and Jacquie first met in 2008 at the local establishment on the lake and had their first date at the St. Mary’s Ball, where Kyle knew Jacquie was the one for him. His love for Jacquie was immense. On February 14, 2009, Kyle was united in marriage to Jacquie Bauer at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Storm Lake. Together, Kyle and Jacquie raised three daughters, Jordan, Dani and Keeley. Family was especially important to Kyle as he loved spending time with Jacquie, his girls and his extended family any chance he got. Kyle was very involved in his community and played an important role to the youth through coaching at St. Mary’s. He loved bringing Dani to those early morning practices where he got some good one on one time with her. He also loved watching his younger brother Kennedy dominate the court for the Buena Vista Beavers. He especially loved his snuggle moments with Keeley as she was his special cuddlebug. In Kyle’s free time, he enjoyed playing basketball in the Old Man’s league, spending time at the lake and was an avid Iowa State Cyclone fan. Kyle will always hold the title of Euchre Champion as he and Blake (Team Shake and Bake) were the reigning champs of the family holiday euchre tournaments. Farming was a passion of Kyle’s and he truly enjoyed being outdoors. Kyle was known to be the first to help a friend in need, whether it be to shingle a house, pour cement, fix a combine or plant the crops. Kyle was known for his ability to procrastinate but still get the job done and done well. He was so kind, generous, loyal, and forever calm. A total lover of all people. He will be lovingly remembered as a husband, father, son, brother, uncle and friend. Kyle will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Jacquie Drey of Storm Lake, Iowa; children: Jordan Bauer (fiancé, Blake Haluska) of North Liberty, Iowa; Dani and Keeley Drey of Storm Lake, Iowa; parents, Daniel and Tracy Drey of Early, Iowa; siblings: Kirby (Meghan) Drey of Kentland, Indiana; Kristen (Richard) Carter of Cedar Falls, Iowa; Kassie (Sheree) Drey of Mason City, Iowa; Kennedy Drey of Early, Iowa; father-in-law, Terry Bauer of Alta, Iowa; mother-in-law, Cherl Bauer of Spencer, Iowa; brothers-in-law: Jeff (Becki) Bauer of Denver, Colorado; Josh (Jennifer) Bauer of Denver, Colorado; sister-in-law, Jodi (Derek) Stepanek of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; many nieces and nephews; extended family and many friends. Kyle was preceded in death by his grandparents: Donald and Francis Drey; Robert Mckee; Betty Wilson; and aunt, Beth (Drey) Harder.
