James Dusing

James Dusing, age 86, of Fonda, Iowa died Friday, October 13, 2017 in Fonda. Mass of Christian Burial will be Tuesday, October 17, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. at Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church in Fonda. Burial will be in the Mt. Zion Catholic Cemetery in Fonda. Visitation will take place Monday, October 16, 2017 from 5-7:00 p.m. with a vigil service at 7:00 p.m. followed by a rosary all at Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church in Fonda. The Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake is in charge of the arrangements. James “Jim” Dusing was born May 19, 1931 in Albert City, Iowa, the son of Charles C. and Emma (Schroeder) Dusing. As an infant, he was baptized at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Sioux Rapids where he was later confirmed. Jim attended grade school in Albert City and graduated from Ware High School. On August 16, 1951, Jim was united in marriage to Doris Meyer at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Spencer. Together, they were blessed with seven children: Bonnie, Shirley, Emmy, Jane, Teresa, Steve, and Paula. Jim worked for various companies as a machinist over the years, including Nobles in Sac City, Twin-Draulics in Laurens, Thompson Tool and Die in Fonda, and for Nelson Products in Sioux Rapids. He retired in 1996, but was always willing to lend a helping hand with electrical and plumbing for people in the area. Jim was very involved in the Fonda community as a member of the Fonda Fire Department for 35 years. He assisted with the firemen water fights and was on the football chain crew for Fonda Community Schools. Watching western movies, hunting, fishing, and playing cards, especially Pinochle with family were a few of Jim’s favorite past times. He was also an avid Iowa Hawkeye fan. Most of all, Jim loved spending time with his wife, children, and grandchildren. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 66 years, Doris Dusing of Fonda, Iowa; son, Steve Dusing of Fonda, Iowa; daughters: Bonnie Walker of Fonda, Iowa; Shirley (Louis) Stauter of Fonda, Iowa; Emmy (Michael) Walsh of Phoenix, Arizona; Jane (John) Schoen of Orlando, Florida; Paula (David) Baase of Macon, Missouri; grandchildren: Charissa (Mitch) Mueller, Cory (Courtney) Walker, Jason Stauter (Grandpa’s buddy and shadow), Jeremiah (Jill) Stauter, Miranda (Matt) Madsen, Stephanie (Greg) Merlene, Zane (Tara) Walsh, Gail (Steve) Blair, Christina Schoen, Eric Schoen, Joshua (Cynthia) Walsh, Michael (Carrie) Walsh, Katrina Walsh, Cassondra (Quinton) Stroman, Felica Dusing, Bryant Dusing, Zachary Baase, Megan Baase; great grandchildren: Tyler, Chance, and Corbin Saathoff; Maggie, Mary, Mia, and Maeve Walker; Emma, Mariah, and Brady Stauter; Blake, Johnny and Ally Madisen; Mallie Walsh; Andrew and Hannah Schoen; Austin, Jocelyn, and Hudson Walsh; Ellie and Addie Walsh; Leilani and Kai Johnson; Aubree, DJ, and AJ Stroman; McKenna Fassler; sister, Ester Brander of Spencer, Iowa; many nieces and nephews; extended family and friends. Jim was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Teresa Dusing Tischer; grandson, Michael Stauter; son-in-law, Dan Walker; brothers, Lloyd and Charles Dusing; and sisters, Marry Hibbs and Millie Glynn.
