Elaine Wright

Elaine Wright, age 96, of Storm Lake, Iowa, died on Sunday, April 17, 2022, in Des Moines, Iowa. Funeral services will take place Friday, April 22, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Storm Lake, Iowa. Burial will be in the St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the CHURCH. The Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake is in charge of arrangements. Elaine M. Wright was born November 11, 1925 to Richard F. and Ella Kolpin in Galva, Iowa. She attended school in Galva. After high school, she attended business school in Sioux City, Iowa. Elaine met the love of her life, Joe A. Wright at the Cobblestone in Storm Lake. They were united in marriage on August 17, 1948 in Storm Lake. To this union, three beautiful children were born: Jolaine A. Wright, Jace E. Wright, and Joni J. Kommes. Throughout Elaine’s life, she worked at various business including Citizen's Bank, Iowa Public Power, Case, The Sugar Bowl and the voter polls. Elaine was an active volunteer in the community helping at Santa’s Castle, serving as a Boy Scout leader and was a member of the Hospital Auxiliary. Elaine was recognized by the Buena Vista Historical Society Museum as the “Volunteer of the Year”. She was also a member of the Storm Lake Quilting Club and St. Mary’s Quilting. She loved butterflies, enjoyed bowling and coffee with her friends. Elaine has touched the lives of many and will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her. Elaine is survived by her daughter: Joni (Kevin) Kommes; grandchildren: Kara (Jordan) Gegner; Kassi (Taylor) Radke; great-grandchildren: Josie Gegner; and Brock Gegner. She is preceded in death by her husband, Joe Wright; daughter: Jolaine Wright; son: Jace Wright; brother: Myron (Jeri) Kolpin; and sister: Ardy (Andy) Andresen.
