Eileen Marie Arnts

February 12, 1933 - February 8, 2022

Eileen Marie Arnts, age 88, of Storm Lake, Iowa, formerly of Alta, Iowa, died peacefully, surrounded by her six children, on February 8, 2022, in Storm Lake. A Funeral Mass will be held Monday, February 14, 2022 at 10:30 am at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Storm Lake, Iowa. Burial will be in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Schaller, Iowa. Visitation will be held Sunday, February 13, 2022, from 2-4 pm at Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in STORM LAKE. A Rosary followed by a Prayer Vigil will be held at 4 pm at the funeral home following the visitation. The Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake is in charge of the arrangements. Eileen Marie Arnts was born on February 12, 1933 to Albert and Elsie (Jirousek) Broulik in Owatonna, Minnesota. Growing up, Eileen attended Saco School at a one room country school in rural Owatonna, Minnesota. She graduated from Owatonna High School in 1951. On March 5, 1933, Eileen was baptized at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Owatonna where she was later confirmed. After moving to Iowa, she was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Schaller, Iowa until it’s closing. During her time at St. Joseph, she served on the Rosary Society where she was President for one term. She also served as a Religious Education teacher. She later joined the St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Storm Lake. Eileen was united in marriage to Joseph Arnts on August 29, 1959 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Owatonna, Minnesota. To this union, six children were born: Theresa, Patricia, Margaret, Karen, Bernard, and David. She worked at Federated Insurance Company in Owatonna after her high school graduation until 1959 when she was married and moved to Alta, Iowa. Eileen helped Joe on the farm south of Alta and lovingly raised six children, all born in less than seven years. Eileen raised a huge vegetable garden each year, which was enough to provide for the family until the next growing season. Eileen tended 1,000 laying hens each year and sold enough eggs to purchase the first family car, a 1963 four-door Chevy Bel Air. Joe and Eileen enjoyed visiting casinos. Eileen enjoyed watching her beloved Minnesota Twins and Minnesota Vikings. She attended several Twins baseball games. Eileen enjoyed putting together jigsaw puzzles to help pass time during the winter. More than anything, Eileen valued her time with family. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. Eileen is survived by her children: Theresa (Les) Elgin of Adair, Iowa; Patricia (Lance) Mattson of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; Margaret (Denny) Anderson of Lawton, Iowa; Karen (Joe) Boyer of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; Bernard Arnts of Alta, Iowa; David (Cheryl) Arnts of Alta, Iowa; brother: Luke Broulik of Blooming Prairie, Minnesota; sister: Rita Dietz of Faribault, Minnesota; sister-in-law: Josephine Goeser of Omaha, Nebraska; grandchildren: Jason (Katie) Elgin; Elizabeth (Cody) Moreland; Jesse (Chelsey) Mattson; Joseph (Amy) Mattson; Father Tyler Mattson; Rebecca (Garrett) Allen; Ben Anderson; Michelle (Jaffet) Fernandez; Meagan (Mike) Schrum; Dominic (Kahryn) Boyer; Monica (Jake) Bray; Faith Boyer; Kathleen (Danny) Mortier; Luke (Emily) Arnts; Grace Arnts; Joelle Arnts; Rachael (fiancé David Mortier) Arnts; Matthew Arnts; Jacob Arnts; Ethan Arnts; Emily Arnts; great-grandchildren: Darwin Allen; Tali Allen; Charlotte Elgin; Garrett Elgin; Alice Moreland; Toby Moreland; Haley Mortier; Josie Mortier; Nathan Mortier; Madison Schrum; Marcus Schrum; Mary Schrum; extended family and many friends.
