A Celebration of Life will take place Thursday, September 23, 2021 at 11:30 a.m. at the Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in STORM LAKE. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Don't worry about getting out your Sunday best, please come as you are! John, Jen, and Dave invite you to join them at the funeral home directly following the service for a luncheon hosted by our special friends at Bozwellz Pub & Eaterie. The family suggests memorial contributions be made in Deb's honor to the oncology unit at Buena Vista Regional Medical Center. The Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake is in charge of the arrangements. Deb was born June 21, 1955, in Worthington, Minnesota to Jack and Marge (Cobb) Nelson and was welcomed to the family by her sister, Sherri (Nelson) Ehrich. Deb graduated from high school in Storm Lake, Iowa and gave birth to her daughter, Jen, in 1973. She met the love of her life, John Grundman, and they wed on October 9, 1981. Deb worked for seventeen years at the Storm Lake, Iowa Wal-Mart. She made several lifelong friends and retired in 2006. Following retirement Deb delighted in caring for the family home and was known for her beautiful decorating talents. She loved sharing her home with others and relished countless visits from friends and loved ones. She was a loyal friend and spent several afternoons a week meeting with her dearest companions for laughter and conversation. Deb was a faithful caregiver to her cherished Scottish Terriers and devoted much time, attention, and love to them. She was a dedicated and loving mother and wife. She took immense pleasure in caring for and spending time with her family. Generous, loving, compassionate, accepting, and fiercely protective are just a few words used to describe her. Deb was fond of traveling and she and the family took many vacations during her lifetime. Annual summer trips to Minnesota, weekend fishing trips, girls-only trips to Des Moines, and several mother-daughter vacations to Florida were enjoyed and are now treasured family memories. Deb had a fierce love for the Lord Jesus Christ. She was steadfast in her faith and one of her favorite sentences was, “It’s all good – God’s got this!” She loved listening to Christian music, discussing her faith, and sharing her love of the Lord with others through words and actions. She was steadfast in prayer and lifted her family, friends, and world issues daily to Jesus. Deb was preceded in death by her parents, Jack and Marge, and sister Sherri. Left here to cherish her memory are her husband John Grundman, her daughter Jen (Grundman) Olsen, and son-in-law Dave Olsen. Deb is also survived by her niece Tammy (and Mick) McGuire and adult children, nephew Steve (and Teri) Ehrich and adult children, brother-in-law Dick Ehrich, and several other beloved family members and friends.
