Dalton Sassman

Dalton Sassman, age 23, of Garner, Iowa formerly of Storm Lake, Iowa died on Sunday, December 15, 2019 in Garner due to a heart and blood disorder. Celebration of life service will be held on Saturday, December 28, 2019 at 3:30 p.m. at the Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in STORM LAKE. Burial will be at a later date. Visitation will take place prior to the service beginning at 1:30 p.m. at the funeral home. The Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake is in charge of the arrangements. Dalton Dean Sassman was born March 19, 1996 in Storm Lake, Iowa the son of Rich and Sherry (Bihrer) Sassman. As an infant, Dalton was baptized at the United Methodist Church in Storm Lake where he was later confirmed. Growing up, Dalton attended school in Storm Lake where he graduated from Storm Lake High School. For the past two years, Dalton had been working in the agricultural field. He moved to Garner, Iowa to be with his fiancé, Angel Askren, whom he has been dating since May 10, 2015. It was there that they decided they would raise their family together. Dalton was blessed with three sons: Gavynn (June 23, 2016) and Sawyer (December 22, 2017) and Emmett who will be born in January 2020. Dalton enjoyed his flannel shirts and cowboy boots as he just wanted to be himself. He treasured being outdoors, especially fishing and dirt biking. One of Dalton’s favorite holidays was Christmas because it gave him the opportunity to be with his family. Dalton treasured being a dad and loved his boys dearly. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. Those left to cherish his memory include his fiancé, Angel Askren of Garner, Iowa; children: Gavynn, Sawyer and Emmett on his way; mother, Sherry Sassman of Storm Lake, Iowa; brother, Dylan Steven Sassman; grandfather, Gerald Sassman; many aunts and uncles; cousins; and several friends. Dalton was preceded in death by his father, Rich Sassman; grandparents: Barb Sassman; Maynard Beal; Shirley and Merle Bihrer; and uncle, Steven C. Bihrer.
