Ciprian M. Hernandez-Martinez "Pops", age 68, of Storm Lake, Iowa passed away peacefully in his home on Monday, June 29, 2020. Public graveside services will take place Friday, July 3, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. at Storm Lake Cemetery with full military services. Burial will be in the Storm Lake Cemetery. Public visitation will take place Thursday, July 2, 2020 from 4-8:00 p.m. at the Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake with social distancing enforced. The Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake is in charge of the arrangements. He was born on September 19, 1951 in San Lorenzo, Puerto Rico to Gregorio Hernandez and Julia Hernandez-Martinez. He was the youngest of 18 children. He was blessed in marriage to Rosa Maria Hernandez on December 1st of 1982. Together, they had three children: Joel Reyes, Eduardo Hernandez, and Charles Hernandez all of Storm Lake, Iowa. Ciprian served in the United States Army as a Sargent in Communications and a War Veteran in Desert Storm, which awarded him a Bronze Medal. He proudly retired from the US Army after 20 years of service. The things he loved as a diehard Carolina Panthers fan was Football Sunday and Playing Fantasy Football in the Block League. He also loved fishing, watching politics/the weather channel, gardening, and playing with his dog, Frosty. Above all else, he put his family first, ALWAYS. When the grandchildren were around, few else got his attention. His love for “the little kids,” as he’d say, was immense. Playing with them, spoiling them with all the snacks, and making sure they knew he loved them was a top priority. He’d always say, after giving them snacks, “That’s because Grandpa loves you!” The kids always loved going to Grandpa’s house. There was rarely a day that passed that one of his sons didn’t come to see “Pops.” But even higher on his priority was his wife. He loved and adored her. He did whatever it took to make sure she felt special and had a smile on her face. Everyday he would whistle at her and say “Is there an angel in the house?” He greeted her with a cup of coffee and a kiss every morning. He is survived by his wife, Rosa M. Hernandez, his children Joel Reyes, Eduardo (Kayla) Hernandez, and Charles (Darlene) Hernandez, and his grandchildren Dezirae (Tristan) Bainum (Reyes), Donte Reyes, Danielle Reyes, Dominique Reyes, Champion Hernandez, Rosa Hernandez, Elijah Hernandez, and Isaiah Hernandez.
