Carol Dean Peterson Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Carol Dean Peterson, age 94, of Linn Grove, Iowa passed away Saturday, May 28, 2022 at Park View Rehabilitation Center in Sac City, Iowa. Funeral services will take place Friday, June 3, 2022 at 1:30 p.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church in rural Alta, Iowa. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will take place Thursday, June 2, 2022 from 4:30-7:00 p.m. at the Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in STORM LAKE. Memorials may be directed to Care Initiative Hospice at 4301 Sergeant Road Lobby Ste. 110 Sioux City, Iowa 51106. The Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake is in charge of the arrangements. Carol was born June 11, 1927 on the family farm near Linn Grove, Iowa the son of Bert and Dagny Gustie Sophia (Christensen) Peterson. As an infant, he was baptized at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in rural Alta where he was later confirmed. Growing up, Carol attended grade school at High View in Linn Grove and graduated from High View High School in 1946. Following high school graduation, Carol enlisted in the United States Army on December 12, 1950 where he proudly served his country until he was honorably discharged on November 27, 1952. On April 8, 1951, Carol was united in marriage to Loretta D. Stern in Albert City, Iowa. Together, they were blessed with five children: Cynthia, Janelle, Brent, Craig and Lisa. Carol remained a lifelong member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church in rural Alta where he served on church council in various positions. Carol was also a longtime member of the American Legion Post in Linn Grove. His passion in life was the farm and keeping his farmyard and buildings clean and in order. Carol loved to dance, especially with his wife, Loretta. Family was very important to Carol and he treasured spending time with them. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 71 years, Loretta Peterson of Sac City, Iowa; children: Cynthia (Randy) Souder of Rockwell City, Iowa; Janelle (Lou) Martin of Cumming, Georgia; Craig (Dana) Peterson of Marietta, Georgia; Lisa (Kevin) Martin of Pocahontas, Iowa; daughter-in-law, Lorinda Peterson of Alta, Iowa; grandchildren: Chris (Kristen) Souder; Melissa (James) Wright; Lindsey Peterson (Adam) Bockelman; Michael Beatty; Wayne (Lora) Peterson; Alyssa (Stephen) Peterson-DeWitt; Jayden Peterson; Stephanie (Steve) Hein; and Nathan Martin; great grandchildren: Ashley Souder; Katie Souder; James Wright IV; Jarrell Wright; Betti Peterson; Veronica Peterson; Charles Peterson; Henry Hein and Walker Hein; extended family and many friends. Carol was preceded in death by his parents, Bert and Gustie Peterson; and son, Brent Peterson.
