Brenda R. Potratz

Brenda R. Potratz, age 81, of Spencer, Iowa died on Sunday, April 17, 2022, at the Ruthven Community Care Center in Ruthven. Funeral services will take place Thursday, April 21, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at the First English Lutheran Church in Spencer, Iowa. Burial will be in the Woodlawn Cemetery in Alta, Iowa. Visitation will take place one hour prior to the service at the CHURCH. The Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake is in charge of arrangements. Brenda Rae Finnestad was born May 14, 1940 to Amos and Cecilia (Stammer) Finnestad. As an infant, she was baptized and later confirmed at St. John Lutheran Church in Fenton, Iowa. Growing up, Brenda attended school in Fenton, Iowa where she graduated from Sentral High School in Fenton in 1958. On January 16, 1959, Brenda was united in marriage to Roger Potratz at St. John Lutheran Church in Fenton. Together, they were blessed with five children: Lori, Lisa, Ricky, Lyn and Lee. Brenda was best known for her longtime employment at Casey’s General Store in Storm Lake, Iowa. In her spare time, Brenda enjoyed playing cards and putting puzzles together with friends and family. Family was very important to Brenda, and she treasured spending time with them, especially at holiday gatherings. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. Those left to cherish her memory include her husband, Roger Potratz of Spencer, Iowa; children: Lori (Bruce) Gamble of Spirit Lake, Iowa; Lisa DeMan of Spencer, Iowa; Lyn (Steve) Nelson of Newell, Iowa; Lee (Wendy) Potratz of Bemidji, Minnesota; grandchildren: Matt (Angela) Friedrich of Sioux Rapids, Iowa; Tyler (special friend, Emily) DeMan of Polk City, Iowa; Justin (Amber) DeMan of North Liberty, Iowa; Blake (Khortni) Bohe of Early, Iowa; Brad (Chelsee) Bohe of Newell, Iowa; Brady (finance, Sidney Herrig) Bohe of Wall Lake, Iowa; Cade Nelson of Sioux City, Iowa; Caroline Nelson of New Castle, Nebraska; Owen Potratz of Bemidji, Minnesota; Adeline Potratz of Bemidji, Minnesota; 13 great grandchildren; sisters: Lois Wasson of Ringgold, Georgia; and Marlys Finnestad of Algona, Iowa; extended family and many friends. Brenda was preceded in death by her parents, Amos and Cecilia Finnestad; infant son: Ricky Potratz; brothers: Bill Finnestad; Mark Finnestad; David Finnestad; and sister: Rosemary Urbick.
