Bernice "Bea" Kolb

Bernice "Bea" Kolb, age 95, of Alta, Iowa died Wednesday, August 20, 2014 at her home. A Celebration of Life will be held at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 26, 2014 at the Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will be at a later date in the East Lawn Palms Cemetery in Tucson, Arizona. The Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake is in charge of the arrangements. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests "sending flowers to a friend" or donating to a charity of your choice. Bernice “Bea” Sutton was born April 25, 1919 in Rembrandt, Iowa, the daughter of Hollie and Viva Sara Elizabeth (Oder) Sutton. Bea spent her youth in the Storm Lake community, graduating from Storm Lake High School and then continued her education at Buena Vista College. On August 19, 1939, Bea was united in marriage to Robert H. Kolb at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. Together they were blessed with three children: Sara, William, and Robert. Bea and her husband Bob moved to Kansas City, Missouri for five years. In 1946, they relocated to Tucson, Arizona for the next fifty years. While in Tucson, Bea and Bob owned and operated “Arizona Greenhouse”. Bea was a member of the St. Mark’s Presbyterian Church in Tucson. While in Storm Lake she was member of the Lakeside Presbyterian Church. In her spare time, Bea was an avid card player, with the challenge of a good bridge game being her favorite. She was also a member of the Lake Creek Country Club, and played golf until she was well into her 80’s. Most of all, Bea loved spending time with her family and friends. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her, being an inspiration to live life at its fullest. Those left to cherish her memory include her children: Sara Elizabeth Kolb of San Antonio, Texas; William Paul (Linda) Kolb of Del Mar, California; sister, Jane Rasmussen of Storm Lake, Iowa; extended family and many friends. Bea was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bob; son, Robert James Kolb in 1966; sisters: Iris Oatman, Evelyn Sullivan, and Virginia Buck; brothers-in-law, Norman Kolb and Harry Rasmussen. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a donation in Bea’s memory to the charity of your choice, or send flowers to a friend.
