Antonette Mary (Pudenz) Staiert, 99, of Wall Lake, Iowa passed away at the Twilight Acres Nursing Home in Wall Lake, Iowa on October 17, 2020. Funeral Mass will take place Wednesday, October 21, 2020 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Sac City, Iowa. Masks will be required at the service. Visitation will take place one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be Thursday, October 22, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. at Mt. Olivet Catholic Cemetery in Carroll, Iowa. Memorial contributions to St. Mary’s Parish may be made in Antonette’s name and left in the care of the funeral home. The Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake is in charge of the arrangements. She was born January 18, 1921 at Carroll, Iowa, daughter of William and Teresa (Wiederin) Pudenz. She attended Our Lady of Mount Carmel, helped her parents on the farm, and worked for others in the area. On January 7, 1941, she married Elmer Staiert of Maple River, Iowa at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Auburn, Iowa. After marriage, they farmed in the Auburn, Breda, and Fonda areas for eight years. In 1949, they bought a farm south of Fonda where they lived for 50 years raising livestock and grain crops. At Fonda, Antonette was president of the Holy Family Society, President of the Rosary Making Club, and a member of the Hobby Club and the Catholic Daughters of America where she earned a 50-year pin. She and Elmer belonged to a square dance club, loved polka music, and enjoyed playing cards with their family and friends. Starting in 1977, they vacationed in Florence, AZ every winter for 22 years. They retired from farming in 1991 and moved to Sac City in December 1999. In Sac City, she was a member of the St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Ladies Guild, and Catholic Daughter of America in Early, Iowa. Antonette (Nets in the family and Toni to others) loved the outdoors, raised a large garden for her family, and enjoyed flowers of all kinds. She helped in the fields at planting and harvest times. She loved baking, embroidery, puzzles, and playing her accordion and organ. She particularly enjoyed her family, children, and three-generations of grandchildren and loved it when they came home for a visit or vacation. Antonette was preceded in death by Elmer, her husband of 72 years; her parents William and Teresa Pudenz; brothers Arthur Pudenz, Norman Pudenz, and Leon Pudenz; sister Genevieve (Pudenz) Staiert; daughter Janice Staiert; son-in-law Dennis Peed; and grandson-in-law Richard Robeson. The surviving family members include: sister Sally (Pudenz) Carroll of Titusville, FL; Aunt Marge Reiling of Carroll IA, and five children, 18 grandchildren, 35 great grandchildren, and 8 great-great grandchildren all of whom were dearly loved. The surviving children are Judy (Bill) Oldham of Hereford, AZ, Marjean (Leonard) Higby of Gering, NE, Carolyn Peed of Temecula, CA, Barbara (Richard) Ingold of Cripple Creek, CO, and Gary (Tammy) Staiert of Bennet, NE.
