Vivian Harrington

Vivian Harrington, age 85, of Storm Lake, Iowa died Thursday, February 5, 2015 at Otsego Place in Storm Lake. Graveside services will be held Saturday, February 7, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at the Storm Lake Cemetery in Storm Lake. Visitation will take place Saturday from 11:00 a.m. until the beginning of the service at the Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake. The Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake is in charge of the arrangements. Vivian Harriet Andersen was born November 15, 1929 in Wakefield, Nebraska, the daughter of Andrew Pete and Gerda (Jensen) Andersen. Vivian grew up in Laurel, Iowa, where she attended school. She graduated from Laurel High School in 1947. On June 18, 1950, Vivian was united in marriage to Ralph Sidney “Sid” Harrington. Together they were blessed with three children: Rick, Randy, and Rhonda. In 1963, the family moved to Independence, Iowa. In 1985, the couple made their home in Storm Lake, Iowa. Together, they owned and operated the Storm Lake Bowl. Vivian was a faithful member of Lakeside Presbyterian Church in Storm Lake. In her spare time, Vivian loved to bowl, sew, crochet, and spend time in her garden. Keeping house was a true enjoyment for her, and she enjoyed visiting with friends. Most of all, Vivian loved spending time with her children and grandchildren. In her earlier years, Vivian and Sid enjoyed playing cards and Saturday night dances with friends. Vivian will be remembered as the greatest mother in the world. She was always there for her children, and will truly be missed. She touched the lives of everyone she met and made everyone smile. Vivian had the patience and kindness of an angel and God’s grace of forgiveness. She was truly loved. Those left to cherish her memory include her children: Rick (Natalia) Harrington of Fort Dodge, Iowa; Randy Harrington of Ventura, California; Rhonda (Paul) Lussman of Storm Lake, Iowa; grandchildren: Ryann (Chris) Bustos of Ventura, California; Rylee Harrington of Winthrop, Iowa; Alex and Michail Markov of Fort Dodge, Iowa; sister, Shirley Oehlerking of Dakota Dunes, South Dakota; extended family and friends. Vivian was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Sid, in 2006; granddaughter, Katelyn “Katie” Duff; sister, Rubye Wiig.
