Veronica Wiggins

Veronica Wiggins, age 88, of Storm Lake, Iowa died Friday, November 14, 2014 at the Newell Good Samaritan Center in Newell, Iowa. Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m.,Tuesday, November 18, 2014 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Storm Lake. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-7:00 p.m., Monday, November 17, 2014 at the Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake, with a vigil service at 6:30 p.m and the family will be present from 5-7:00 p.m. Memorials may be made to Newell Good Samaritan Center or St. Mary's Catholic School. The Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake is in charge of the arrangements. Veronica Elizabeth Redder was born March 22, 1926 in Ellsworth, Minnesota to Joseph and Anna (Reinert) Redder. She was the youngest of 11 children. She attended St. Mary’s School in Ellsworth and graduated from high school in 1944. She then went on to attend the McKennan Hospital School of Nursing in Sioux Falls, South Dakota and graduated in 1947 with a degree in Nursing. She was united in marriage on January 17, 1948 to Joseph Wiggins in Luverne, Minnesota. After living in Sioux Falls and Linn Grove, Iowa, they settled on a farm north of Storm Lake. To this union, five children were born. Veronica’s nursing experiences included the Buena Vista County Hospital, Methodist Manor and Buena Vista Manor, as well as private nursing for several area residents. She also worked in the cafeteria at Buena Vista University for a time. She enjoyed reading, gardening, quilting and visiting her children and grandchildren. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Storm Lake. She is survived by her son, Michael (Joyce) Wiggins of Hawarden, Iowa; and daughters: Patricia (Thom) Feally of Coral Springs, Florida; Ann (Todd) Jamieson of West DesMoines, Iowa; and Teresa (John) Guthmann of St. Paul, Minnesota. She is also survived by eight grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. Other survivors include many nieces and nephews and other relatives. She is preceded in death by her husband, Joseph, in 2010; her daughter, Susan, in 1967; her grandson, Peter, in 1988; and her parents and all her brothers and sisters.
