Verona D. Koth

Verona D. Koth, age 89, of Galva, Iowa died Thursday, August 10, 2017 at the Good Samaritan Society in Holstein, Iowa. Funeral services will be held Monday, August 14, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. at St. John Lutheran Church in Hanover. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will take place Sunday, August 13, 2017 from 5-7:00 p.m. at the Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Alta. The Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Alta is in charge of the arrangements. Verona D. Wogahn was born to Henry and Doretta (Hasenwinkle) Wogahn on March 20, 1928 in Cherokee County, Iowa. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran Faith at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Aurelia, Iowa. Verona graduated from Aurelia High School and worked as a telephone operator in Cherokee. Verona was united in marriage to Arnold Koth on February 14, 1949. This union was blessed with five children: Steve, Brad, Jeff, Kevin, and Melissa. Verona enjoyed cooking, crocheting, bowling, fishing, being on the farm, and spending time with family and friends. She was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Hanover, the Ladies Aid, and was very active in the church quilting group. Verona will be remembered as a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and friend to many. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. Those left to cherish her memory include her son: Steve (Carmen) Koth of Holstein, Iowa; grandchildren: Caleb Campbell and his daughter, Harriett Campbell (special friend, Allyssa Driscoll); Laramie (Greg) Kelly and their children: Erin and Grace Kelly; son, Brad (Darla) Koth of Alta, Iowa; grandchildren: Kendra (Derek) Wall and their children: Brant and Tracin Price; Kameron (Cheri) Koth and their children: Teagan, Benson, Skyler, Averie, and Waylon Koth; son, Jeff (Shari Kieffer) Koth of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; grandchildren: Joshua (Traci Kauphusman) Ploetz and their children: Jack, Peter, Mercedes, and Roman Kauphusman; Stephanie (Adam) Oehler and their children: Cabe and Barrett Oehler; Jason (Angie) Ploetz and their children: Jakoby Reyez and Savannah Ploetz; Michael Koth (special friend, Alicia Klett); son, Kevin (Joanne) Koth of Le Mars, Iowa and their daughter, Kayla (Darren) Kriener and their children: Alyssa and Audrey Kriener; Kyle Koth (fiancé, Amy Johnson) and their children: Payton, Harpper and Hayden Koth; daughter, Melissa (Denton) Hansen of Alta, Iowa and their children: Thomas (Stephanie) Hansen; Aaron (Kelsey) Hansen and their son: Braylon Hansen; brother, Wilbur (Sally) Wogahn of Sarasota, Florida; sister, Caroline Stellato of New Haven, Connecticut; extended family and friends. Verona was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Arnold; sisters: Ruth Sparks and Lela Koth; brother, Paul Wogahn; and granddaughter, Stephanie Ploetz.
