Susan Rae Friday

Susan R. Friday, age 69, of Newell, Iowa died on Monday, November 2, 2020 at Loring Hospital in Sac City, Iowa. Memorial services will be held on Friday, November 6, 2020 at 4:00 p.m. at the United Methodist Church in Storm Lake. Visitation will take place after the service in the church's Family Life Center until 7:00 p.m. Masks are encouraged for guests in attendance. A memorial fund in Susan's name has been established. The Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake is in charge of the arrangements. Susan Rae Wardrip was born December 31, 1950 in Sac City, Iowa the daughter of Ray and Lydia “Irene” (McVicker) Wardrip. As an infant, Susan was baptized at the Odebolt Methodist Church where she was later confirmed in 1963. Growing up, Susan attended school at Odebolt-Arthur where she graduated in 1969. Following high school graduation, Susan attended Northwest Missouri State where she graduated in 1973. Later in life Susan continued her education at Iowa State University where she graduated with a Master’s Degree in Counselor Education. On December 29, 1972, Susan was united in marriage to Charles Michael Friday in Odebolt. Together, they were blessed with two daughters, Jennifer Rae and Jillanne Marie. Susan worked as a Guidance Counselor for the Newell-Fonda Community School district for many years until she retired in Spring of 2008. In her spare time, she enjoyed playing the piano and reading. Susan loved her family, especially her grandchildren. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. Those left to cherish her memory include her husband, Chuck Friday of Newell, Iowa; children: Jennifer (Scott) Steburg of North Liberty, Iowa; Jillanne “Jill” (Justin) Baker of Milford, Iowa; grandchildren: Jackson, Jessica and Gabe Steburg; Andrew, Lydia, Hannah and Lucas Baker; brother, Kenneth “Butch” (Mary Boeckman) Wardrip of Lake View, Iowa; sister-in-law Carol (Tom) Witry of Dubuque, Iowa; brother-in-law Mark (Regina) Friday of Overland Park, Kansas; nieces, nephews, cousins; extended family and many friends. Susan was preceded in death by her parents, Ray and Irene Wardrip; aunts, uncles, and three first cousins.
