Sally Jean Kooker

Sally Jean Kooker, age 77, of Storm Lake, Iowa died Monday, May 22, 2017 at the Buena Vista Regional Medical Center in Storm Lake. Funeral Mass will be held Saturday, May 27, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Storm Lake. Burial will follow in the St. Michael's Catholic Cemetery in Kingsley, Iowa. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Memorials may be designated to the Storm Lake Tornado Booster Club. The Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake is in charge of the arrangements. Sally Jean Shearer was born March 12, 1940 in Kingsley, Iowa, the daughter of Clifford and Dorothy (Hall) Shearer. As an infant, she was baptized at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Kingsley where she was later confirmed in 1952. Sally attended school in Kingsley, graduating from Kingsley High School in 1958. She continued her education at Westmar in LeMars, Iowa, where she met the love of her life, Jack. On August 19, 1961, Sally was united in marriage to Jack Kooker in Kingsley. Together, they were blessed with four children: Mark, Jeffrey, David, and Ann. Sally was currently a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Storm Lake. She participated in the Catholic Daughters of America and was the president of CCD. Sally worked as a Teacher’s Aid for the AEA, a job she very much enjoyed. Traveling, watching game shows, and eating out were a few of Sally’s favorite pastimes. She also enjoyed watching and attending sporting events and playing cards, especially bridge. Most of all, Sally loved her family and spending time with her grandchildren. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. Those left to cherish her memory include her husband, Jack Kooker of Storm Lake, Iowa; Mark (Jana) Kooker of Des Moines, Iowa; Jeffrey Kooker of Poulsbo, Washington; David (Renee) Kooker of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; Ann (Bob) Radvansky of Emmetsburg, Iowa; grandchildren: Taylor Kooker of Des Moines, Iowa; Benjiman Kooker of Des Moines, Iowa; Jacklyn Radvansky of Emmetsburg, Iowa; brothers: Rex (Darlene) Shearer of Storm Lake, Iowa; Martin (Cathy) Shearer of Luverne, Minnesota; sister-in-law, Shirley Kooker of Spencer, Iowa; many nieces and nephews; extended family and friends. Sally was preceded in death by her parents, Clifford and Dorothy Shearer; parents-in-law, Kenny and Lenora Kooker; and brothers-in-law, Earl and John Kooker.
