RuthAnn Will

RuthAnn Will, age 81, of Newell, Iowa died Friday, December 15, 2017 at the Good Samaritan Center in Newell. Funeral services will be held Monday, December 18, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at the First Congregational United Church of Christ in Newell. Burial will be in the Newell Cemetery. Visitation will be held Sunday, December 17, 2017 from 3-5:00 p.m. at the Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Newell. The Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Newell is in charge of the arrangements. RuthAnn was born on the family farm near Peterson, Iowa on April 24, 1936 to Omer and Marjorie (Rohrbaugh) Otten. She later welcomed three sisters; Janice, Carolyn, and Elaine. She attended country school through the 8th grade and then went on to Sutherland High School graduating with the class of 1954. RuthAnn married Harlan Will on April 6, 1957 and together they had 2 children; Darvin Dean and Danita Dawn. RuthAnn and Harlan made their home in Spencer, Iowa and then moved to Newell in the fall of 1962 and there she remained a Newell resident. RuthAnn enjoyed being a mother and homemaker. She raised many flower and vegetable gardens. She was talented at canning her garden produce, cooking great meals (especially her fried chicken) and baking. Her greatest qualities were her kindness and patience to all who knew her. RuthAnn is survived by her husband of 60 years, Harlan; children: Darvin (Becky) Will of Newburgh, Indiana and Danita (Michael) Schnell of Newell, Iowa; sisters: Janice Nissen of Lake Park, Iowa; Carolyn Grothe of Sutherland, Iowa; Elaine (John) Weir of Spencer, Iowa; grandchildren Jacob (fiancé, Nichole Winters) Schnell of Waukee, Iowa, Halley (Chris) Hawkins of Kansas City, Missouri. She also leaves behind great grandchildren: Hayden and Cruz Hawkins; brother and sister-in-law, Marnie and Pat Will of Mankato, Minnesota; sisters-in-law: Juillene Hewitt of Arizona and Joan Will of Michigan; and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, Omer and Marjorie; parents-in-law, Fred and Bernice Will; brothers-in-law, Stanley Will, Paul Grothe, Rich Nissen and Rodean Will.
