Ruth Tucker

Ruth Tucker, age 84, of Storm Lake, Iowa died Tuesday, January 13, 2015 at Methodist Manor Retirement Community in Storm Lake. Memorial services will be held Saturday, January 17, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. at the United Methodist Church in Storm Lake. Burial will be in the Storm Lake Cemetery in Storm Lake. Visitation will take place Friday, January 16, 2015 from 4-7:00 p.m. at the Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be designated to Unity Point Hospice or the Methodist Manor Retirement Community in Storm Lake. The Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake is in charge of the arrangements. Ruth Marilyn Newendorp was born February 16, 1930, in Orange City, Iowa, the daughter of Nelson and Myrtle (VanderVelde) Newendorp. She grew up in the LeMars, Iowa, community, where she attended school. Ruth graduated from LeMars High School in 1948. She then went on to continue her education at the University of Iowa School of Nursing, graduating in 1952 as a Registered Nurse. On September 3, 1950, Ruth was united in marriage to Charles Wendell Tucker in LeMars. Together they were blessed with four children: David, Connie, Beth, and Mary. Ruth was active in the community, serving as the past president of the PEO-Chapter JD and was a member of the 37 Club, Girl Scout Leaders, and the Witter Gallery Board. In her spare time, Ruth enjoyed listening to music, traveling, hiking, watersports, and cooking. Most of all, she loved spending time with her family and friends. She will be remembered as a loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Those left to cherish her memory include her husband, Charles Wendell Tucker of Storm Lake, Iowa; children: Connie (Dave) Skibsted of Storm Lake, Iowa; Beth (Dan) Wilkinson of Pewaukee, Wisconsin; Mary Paine of Nathrop, Colorado; grandchildren: Todd Tucker of St. Anthony, Minnesota; Mike (Kristie) Tucker of St. Anthony, Minnesota; Angie (Brandon) Shaw of Madison, Wisconsin; Amy (Dre) Oliver of Otsego, Minnesota; Ben (Bridget) Skibsted of Zumbro Falls, Minnesota; Nick (Kim) Skibsted of Brandon, South Dakota; Mitchell Paine of Lincoln, Nebraska; Alex Paine of Lincoln, Nebraska; Brian Wilkinson of Chicago, Illinois; Sarah Wilkinson of Chicago, Illinois; great-grandchildren: Amelia and Jace Tucker; Madelyn and Lucy Skibsted; Trey and Rylie Skibsted; Imani Oliver; brother, Paul (Donna) Newendorp of Estes Park, Colorado; sister-in-law, Thelma Tucker of Gainesville, Florida; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Ruth was preceded in death by her parents; son, David Tucker; grandson, Timothy Wilkinson; and brother-in-law, Wilbur Tucker.
