Rose A. Mills

Rose A. Mills, age 87, of Lakeside, Iowa died Thursday, January 4, 2018 at her home in Lakeside. Funeral Mass will be held Tuesday, January 9, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Storm Lake. Burial will follow in the St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will take place Monday, January 8, 2018 from 4:30-7:00 p.m. with a rosary prayed at 4:30 p.m. at the Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials. The Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake is in charge of the arrangements. Rose A. Brander was born August 4, 1930 in Storm Lake, Iowa, the daughter of Edward and Rose (Minette) Brander. As an infant, she was baptized at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Storm Lake. She was later confirmed in 1941. Rose attended school at St. Mary’s Catholic School and graduated in 1949. On September 9, 1950, Rose was united in marriage to Charles M. Mills at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Together, they were blessed with five children: Melinda, Kathleen, Jon, Cynthia, and Jaclyn. Rose was a life-long member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church where she always participated in the Prayer Line. She worked for the City of Lakeside for many years, and was very proud to be a resident of the town. She enjoyed crafts, handwork, and playing cards and board games with neighborhood kids. Most of all, she loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Rose will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. Those left to cherish her memory include her children: Melinda Mills of Fort Dodge, Iowa; Kathleen Mills of Grand Junction, Colorado; Jaclyn (Scott) Eike of Storm Lake, Iowa; daughter-in-law, Sheila Mills of Storm Lake, Iowa; grandchildren: Richard (Linda) Dutcher, Jason Wolf, Gabrielle Mills, Eric Mills, Travis (Brianne) Christiansen, Zechariah (Theresa) Moffitt, Heather Milton, Joshua Milton, Amanda (Derek) Eike Koehler; great grandchildren: Hannah and Bryant Dutcher; Emily Cipale; Evan and Ella Christiansen; Karley, Dominac, and Hannah Mills; Kathryn and Cole Nuanez; Zabriel and Chayton Moffitt; Alicia Martin, Sierra Sherman, Lisa and Austin Myers; great great-grandchildren: Kayden and Zayden, Harper, and Christopher; sister, Mary Hartman of Le Mars, Iowa; honorary grandchildren; Amy, Heather, Farell, and Mclaine; extended family and friends. Rose was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Charles in 1997; son, Jon in 2016; daughter, Cynthia in 2001; sisters: Lorraine Peterson, Dorothy Brander, and Agnes (Gerald) Scott; brothers: Allen, Eddie, Ward, and Tubby “Lloyd” Brander; brothers-in-law: Glenn Peterson and Carl Hartman, nephew, Carl Hartman; great nephew, Patrick Harrington.
