Rose Mary Eickman

Rose Mary Eickman, age 97, of Fonda, Iowa died Sunday, June 12, 2016 at Methodist Manor Retirement Community in Storm Lake. Funeral Mass will be held Friday, June 17, 2016, at 10:30 a.m. at Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church in Fonda. Burial will follow in the Mt. Zion Cemetery in Fonda. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. The Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake is in charge of arrangements. Rose Mary Eickman was born May 25, 1919 to Anton and Mary (Richter) Eickman on a farm near Halbur, Iowa. In 1935, she relocated to a farm east of Fonda with her father, two sisters, and two brothers. In 1946, she moved into Fonda where she lived until she moved to Wel-Life Assisted Living at Alta in March 2013. She died June 12, 2016 at Methodist Manor in Storm Lake. For a number of years, Rose did domestic work and babysitting for others in Fonda. Then she spent thirty years as an employee at the Fonda Locker. She was a member of Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church and belonged to the Holy Family Society, Catholic Daughters of America, and Legion of Mary Auxiliary. She was preceded in death by her parents; and her five brothers and sisters: Sr. Hortense SPF, Marie Rohlk, Ed Eickman, Leonard Eickman and Sr. Maristella SPF; and her great-nephew, Michael Weishaar. Left to cherish her memory are four nieces and two nephews: Patricia (Kenneth) Yeggy of Iowa City, Iowa; Kathleen (Mark) Weishaar of Malvern, Pennsylvania; David Rohlk of Storm Lake, Iowa; Janet (Michael) Healy of Marshall, Minnesota; Sally (Jack) Sauter of Rancho Mirage, California; and James (Cathy) Eickman of Mountain Home, Arkansas. She will also be lovingly remembered by her great-nephews and great nieces: Chris Birk, Gretchen Yeggy, Angie Maycock, Katie McClammer, Jim Healy, Colleen Healy, Carolyn Goedert, Julia Sauter, Laura Perkins, Bill Eickman and Jay Eickman. Rose loved doing things with her nieces and nephews as they were growing up. She liked to do cross-stitch and other types of embroidery. For many years she also enjoyed raising vegetable gardens and caring for her flower gardens. She will be missed by everyone who loved her.
