Rose Ann “Rosie” Koch, age 83, of Storm Lake, Iowa died Wednesday, December 30, 2015 at the Buena Vista Regional Medical Center in Storm Lake. Funeral Mass will be held Wednesday, January 6, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Storm Lake. Burial will follow in the St. Mary’s Cemetery. Visitation will take place Tuesday, January 5, 2016 from 5-8:00 p.m. with a vigil service at 7:00 p.m. and a rosary to follow all at the Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake. The Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake is in charge of the arrangements. Rose Ann Catherine “Rosie” Koch was born December 31, 1931 in Elgin, Nebraska, the daughter of Anton “Tony” and Lauretta (Mooney) Overmohle. Rosie was baptized and confirmed at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Elgin. She attended grade school at St. Boniface Catholic School in Elgin, and later graduated from St. Mary’s Catholic School in Storm Lake in 1951. On February 12, 1952, Rosie was united in marriage to Francis P. Koch at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. They were the last couple to be married in the old church. Rosie and Francis were blessed with three children: Tom, Tim, and Sharon. Rosie was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church where she participated in the Guild, Catholic Daughters of America, and the Quilting Circle. Rosie enjoyed staying busy working on her crafts, and even taught a ceramics class for a number of years. She was very talented at quilting, sewing, and cross stitch. Rosie also liked to cook and bake for her family. For many years, she canned as she kept two large gardens in order to provide food for her family throughout the year. In addition, Rosie kept busy tending to her many beautiful flower beds. Most of all, Rosie loved spending time with her family and friends. She will be remembered as a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, and friend. Those left to cherish her memory include her husband of 63 years, Francis Koch of Storm Lake, Iowa; children: Tom (Mary) Koch of Marshalltown, Iowa; Tim (Connie) Koch of Boone, Iowa; Sharon (Dale) Heuiser of Alhambra, Illinois; grandchildren: Ben (Shari) Koch, Ryan (Kristine) Jorgensen, Joshua (Darlene) Heuiser, Alex Koch, Justin (Jessica) Jorgensen, Jason (Chelsie) Jorgensen, Meredith (Scott) Jackson, Stephanie (John) Thieben, Meghan Jorgensen; great grandchildren: Gavin, Alexis, Carter, Addelynn, August, Colby, and two on the way; brother, Luvern (Eileen) Overmohle of Wapello, Iowa; sisters: Betty (Don) Schmitt of Storm Lake, Iowa; Lois Kestel of Schaller, Iowa; sisters-in-law: Nancy Overmohle of Schaller, Iowa; Lee Mahaney of Phoenix, Arizona; Cecelia Berg of Waynesville, North Carolina; brother-in-law, David Breon of Sperry, Iowa; many nieces, nephews, and cousins; extended family and friends. Rosie was preceded in death by her parents; parents-in-law, Paul and Helen Koch; brothers: Leo (Rosemary Koch) Overmohle, Donald Overmohle; sisters: Rita (Fred) Jansen, Mary Breon; nephew, Steve Mahaney; brothers-in-law: Norman Kestel, Robert (Margaret) Koch, Howard Mahaney, Jerry Harman, Howard Berg; sister-in-law, Regina (Bob) Burke.
