Robert "Bob" Strock

Robert “Bob” Strock Sr., age 82, of Alta, Iowa died Wednesday, June 11, 2014 at Country Side Estates in Cherokee, Iowa. Funeral services will be held Friday, June 13, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Alta. Burial will be in the Buena Vista Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will take place Thursday, June 12, 2014 from 4-8:00 p.m. at the Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake with the family present from 6-8:00 p.m. The Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake is in charge of the arrangements. Robert Strock Sr. was born December 14, 1931 in Storm Lake, Iowa the son of Clarence and Anna (Schuler) Strock. He was baptized and confirmed at the Methodist Church in Truesdale, Iowa. Growing up, Bob attended school in Truesdale where he graduated from Truesdale High School. Following high school graduation he started farming. On August 31, 1952, Bob was united in marriage to Ruth Marie Lullman at the Zion Lutheran Church in rural Storm Lake. Together, they were blessed with three children: Robert Jr., Steven, and James. On December 2, 1952, Bob enlisted in the United States Army where he served his country during the Korean Conflict where he was stationed in Alaska. He was honorably discharged on November 10, 1954. Bob was a member of the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Alta where he served as an Elder. Bob had a passion for being outdoors and loved farming. In his spare time, he enjoyed attending coffee group. Family was very important to Bob and he treasured the time he was able to spend attending their events. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. Those left to cherish his memory include his children: Steven Strock of Alta, Iowa; Jim (Jeannie) Strock of Alta, Iowa; grandchildren: Lindsey Strock of Cedar Falls, Iowa; Kaylee Strock of West Des Moines, Iowa; sisters-in-law: Darlene Armstrong of Truesdale, Iowa; Barb Howeth Strock of Round Rock, Texas; many nieces and nephews; extended family and many friends. Bob was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth Strock; son, Robert Strock Jr.; parents, Clarence and Anna Strock; brother, Duane Strock and one sister, Arlene Corbin.
