Robert R. Rosenbrook

Robert R. Rosenbrook, age 85, of Alta, Iowa died Monday, January 9, 2017 at the Buena Vista Regional Medical Center in Storm Lake. Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 14, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. at the Church of Christ in Alta. Burial will follow in the Storm Lake Cemetery. Visitation will take place Friday, January 13, 2017 from 5-7:00 p.m. at the Church of Christ in Alta. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established. The Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake is in charge of the arrangements. Robert R. Rosenbrook was born August 7, 1931 in Peterson, Iowa the son of John and Alma (Felton) Rosenbrook. As a young boy, Robert was baptized and confirmed at the Brooke Township United Church of Christ. Robert attended Brooke Township School through 4th grade. Following 4th grade, he attended Storm Lake School where he graduated in 1949. On August 4, 1963, Robert was united in marriage to Janet Rae Haglund in Boone, Iowa. Together, they raised one daughter, Teresa Pearl. Robert was a volunteer member of the Storm Lake Fire Department for 27 years. He thoroughly enjoyed being active with the fire department and especially loved taking part in the water fights. Robert was also a member of the Albert City Threshermans and Serpaci. Robert was a member of the Church of Christ in Alta and Storm Lake where he served as deacon, elder and a youth leader. In his spare time, Robert enjoyed woodworking and carpentry where he was very proud to build his own house in Storm Lake. A favorite pastime of Roberts was camping. He loved all types of sports and will be remembered for running the scoreboard at the Storm Lake High School for many years. Robert treasured the time he was able to spend with his family, especially his grandchildren. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Janet Rosenbrook of Alta, Iowa; daughter, Teresa (David) Johnson of Ida Grove, Iowa; grandchildren: Jeremy Johnson of Waterloo, Iowa; Elizabeth (Brent) Beukema of Kanawa, Iowa; Joshua Johnson of Ida Grove, Iowa; Jared (Anastasia) Johnson of Newell, Iowa; Erin Johnson of Glenwood, Iowa; Jacob Johnson (special friend, Melissa Swalin) of Ida Grove, Iowa; great grandchildren: Micah Johnson, William Johnson, Melody Johnson, Zachary Johnson, Diem Johnson, Hadleigh Swalin, and Kasia Johnson; sister, Arlene Steward of Storm Lake, Iowa; brother-in-law, Duane (Linda) Haglund of Boone, Iowa; extended family and many friends. Robert was preceded in death by his parents, John and Alma Rosenbrook; sister, Dorothy (Merle) Harris; brother-in-law, Wayne Steward; parents-in-law, Ray and Mable Haglund.
