Robert M. Rehnstrom

Robert M. Rehnstrom, age 90, of Storm Lake, Iowa died on Monday, January 4, 2021 at the Methodist Manor Retirement Community in Storm Lake. Funeral services will take place on Friday, January 8, 2021 at 10:30 a.m. at the Hope Evangelical Free Church in Storm Lake. Visitation will take place on Thursday, January 7, 2021 from 4:30-6:30 p.m. at the CHURCH in Storm Lake. Masks and social distancing are required for all guests in attendance. The Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake is in charge of the arrangements. Robert M. Rehnstrom, the son of Elden and Viola (Anderson) Rehnstrom, was born on July 5, 1930 in Scott Township in Buena Vista County, Iowa. Growing up, Robert attended grade school and later graduated from Fairview High School in 1947. During his high school years, he played basketball and baseball. On July 9, 1950, Robert was united in marriage to Lois Mudge at the Center Grove Evangelical Free Church in Alta. The couple was blessed with five children: Diane, David, Debra, Denise, and Dawn. Lois passed away in 2000. Later, Robert married Loretta Biggins on February 14, 2002 in Storm Lake. Throughout his life, Robert farmed in the Linn Grove, Alta, and Aurelia areas. He also was employed by Wilson & Co. as a cattle buyer and was later with Banner Beef. He served his community as well by being elected as the Buena County Supervisor in 1986 where he served for two terms. Robert was a lifelong member of Center Grove Evangelical Free Church in Alta and Hope Evangelical Free Church in Storm Lake. At Center Grove, he served as secretary/treasurer and was an active member in both churches. In his free time, Robert loved spending time with his children and grandchildren. He also enjoyed traveling and wintering in Arizona as well as taking summer vacations in Okoboji. Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Loretta Rehnstrom of Storm Lake, Iowa; children: Diane (Alan) Hicks of Malakoff, Texas; David (Laurie) Rehnstrom of Hartington, Nebraska; Debra Condit of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; Denise Wall of Manning, Iowa; Dawn (Greg) Shinn of Rockwall, Texas; Loretta’s children and their families: Cathy (Jim) Nelson of Alta, Iowa; Jean (Jim) Toillion of Eagle Grove, Iowa; Jan (Monty) West of Aurora, Colorado; brother, Merrill Rehnstrom of Alta, Iowa; grandchildren: Mark (Rachal) Bracker, Jeff (Katie) Bracker, Jenna (Chris) Liberto, Jordan Rehnstrom, Nathan (Katie) Wall, Rebecca Wall, Matthew Rehnstrom, Andrew Shinn; 10 great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Marciel Hartje and Janice Oeffner; brother-in-law, Leonard Hartje; extended family and friends. Robert was preceded in death by his first wife, Lois Rehnstrom; parents, Elden and Viola; brother, Harold (Nettie) Rehnstrom; sister-in-law, Phyllis Rehnstrom; and sons-in-law, Larry Bracker and James Condit.
