Robert W. Helmbrecht

Robert W. Helmbrecht, age 46, of Cameron, Missouri, formerly of Storm Lake, Iowa died Sunday, January 8, 2017 in Cameron. Funeral services will be held Friday, January 13, 2017 at 3:00 p.m. at the Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake. Visitation will take place one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. The Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake is in charge of the arrangements. Robert was born on November 17, 1970 in Onawa, Iowa to Chris and Vivian Helmbrecht. Robert grew up in Fort Dodge, Iowa and graduated from Ames High School in Ames, Iowa in 1988. Following graduation, he found employment at IBP (currently known as Tyson) in Storm Lake, Iowa. There he met Katie, and started his own family when they had their daughter Amanda in 1992. It was a new place to call home. To better himself and advance in his career, he relocated to Cameron, Missouri. He started employment with Girton Propane in 1998 as a truck driver. He advanced to being the sales/marketing director for the company. He dedicated his whole heart to the company and was always grateful for the opportunities they provided for him. He wasn’t just considered their employee but a great friend of theirs for nearly 20 years. He was very much a people person and could carry on a conversation with anybody, over any topic. He had a sense of humor in which you would just crave his presence. His smile and laugh was obnoxious, but certainly contagious. If you needed anyone to talk to about anything, he was the one to turn to. Robert loved trucks, classic cars, and motorcycles. One of his favorite memories was showing off his Harley Davidson motorcycle in Storm Lake’s homecoming parades when his daughter, Amanda, was in high school. She was the cheerleader who rode behind her dad. Robert was no great singer but he knew every lyric to an Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash, or Waylon Jennings song. Nothing was more important to Robert than his family. He loved his family and always made sure they knew of it. He was there for them in every way they needed him. He even considered the neighbors as family and the kids were his life, pride, and joy. He would give anything for everyone to be happy, which was no problem if you were around him. Robert is preceded in death by his brother John Helmbrecht, father Chris Helmbrecht, grandparents Willard and Verla Helmbrecht, and uncle George Schuck. Robert is survived by his mother Vivian Whitehill, step-father Wally Whitehill, brothers Tony Helmbrecht and Todd Uhl, wife Katie Helmbrecht, daughter Amanda Helmbrecht, son-in-law Niky Komvongsa, grandson Bentley Komvongsa, one unborn grandchild and his dog Harley. He leaves behind many brother and sister in laws, aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews who he loved more than life itself. He always wanted the best for his family and was so proud of the love they shared with one another. It was a special kind of love, and it wouldn’t be complete without Robert.
