Richard "Bud" Pedersen

Richard “Bud” Pedersen, age 89, of Alta, Iowa died August 15, 2021 at the Buena Vista Regional Medical Center in Storm Lake, Iowa. Funeral Services will be Saturday, August 28, 2021 at 10:30 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church in Alta, Iowa. Burial will be at the Woodlawn Cemetery in Alta with Military Rites by Alta VFW Post #6172. Visitation will be Friday, August 27, 2021 from 5-7:00 p.m. at the Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in STORM LAKE with a Masonic Lodge Service at 7:00 p.m. The family does recommend to wear masks to the services. The Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in STORM LAKE is in charge of arrangements. Richard Lee Pedersen was born March 20, 1932, in Alta, Iowa to Earl and Gladys (Johannesen) Pedersen. Bud was a lifelong member of First Presbyterian Church in Alta, Iowa. He served in many capacities. Bud went to school at the Fairview High School in Alta, Iowa. Richard graduated in 1949 with a class of 7 that was all boys. Richard was united in marriage to Delores Murphy on September 4, 1955, at the United Methodist Church in Alta, Iowa. They were blessed with four children: Brenda, Brian, Bradley, and Todd. Richard then married Julie Chambers on February 14, 1982, at the United Methodist Church in Corwith, Iowa. He then became a father to Stuart. Richard was a part of the United States Army. He served in the Korean War. Bud was a member of the Alta VFW for many years. Bud was a 50-year member of the Eastern Star Chapter & Masonic Lodge. He was a part of the Honor Flight. Bud was an avid local sports fan. Richard loved to winter in Texas. Bud loved playing cards, western movies and books, and playing games with his family. Richard had a passion for farming. Those left to cherish his memories are his wife, Julie Pedersen of Alta, Iowa; children: Brenda( Don) Haack of Sutherland, Iowa; Bradley (Cindy) Pedersen of Alta, Iowa; Todd (Julisa) Pedersen of McAllen, Texas; Stuart (Molly) Chambers of Granger, Iowa; grandchildren: John (Jen) Haack; Janice (Rick) Fitchhorn; Scott Marsh (Jess Blome); Lisa Hare (Andrew Millikan); Daiana Hubers; Elizabeth (Kole) Petersen; Brian Pedersen (Jasmine Bautista); Brandon Pedersen; Brock (Yvonne) Pedersen; Julio Malerva; Landon Chambers; Ella Chambers; Beckham Chambers; Lawson Chambers; great-grandchildren: Erick Haack; Olivia, Sam, and Anna Fitchhorn; Mae Marsh; Nora Dee Hare, and Lexi Millikan; Kyson and Jaylon Hubers; Davin, Kyron, and Brecken Petersen; Hazel Pedersen; Imogen, Everleigh Pedersen; brother-in-law, Christian (Anne) Nygaard; sister-in-law, Melissa (Cecil) Glawe; and extended family and friends. Richard is preceded in death by his parents, Earl and Gladys Pedersen; son, Brian Pedersen; sister, Elaine (Verlyn) Dyslin; great-granddaughter, Ella Melody Cannaday.
